  • Patent number: 7325289
Abstract: A process is provided for manufacturing a ball and socket joint that has a ball pivot (2) that is composed of a pivot pin (3) with an essentially spherical ball head (4) arranged or made integrally in one piece on one side. A bearing shell (5) is provided as well as a preformed plastic film as a thin-walled ball socket (7) with a joint surface (8) enclosing the ball head at least partially. A lubricant (9) is introduced between the surface of the ball head (4) and the joint surface (8) of the thin-walled ball socket (7). According to the process, the thin-walled ball socket (7) is filled first with the lubricant (9). The ball head (4) of the ball pivot (2) is then introduced into the thin-walled ball socket (7) filled with lubricant (9), and the ball head (4) provided with the thin-walled ball socket (7) is subsequently introduced into the housing (10). Finally, the free space between the thin-walled ball socket (7) and the housing (10) is filled up with a material to form a bearing shell (5).

  • Publication number: 20050280194
Abstract: The invention is directed to a rubber mount for supporting a profile rod, and more particularly to a rubber mount for supporting a stabilizer of an automobile. It is the object of the invention to provide a mount of the aforedescribed type that can be installed on the profile rod easily, with only a few operating steps, preferably already at the manufacturer's site, and that has an simple and cost-effective construction. The proposed rubber mount includes an elastomer mounting body with an axially continuous slot which enables the mounting body to be pushed radially onto the profile rod for installation thereon. After installation, the mounting body can be secured with a clamping means (bracket), which according to the invention is formed on the mounting body itself. Stated differently, the bracket and mounting body are formed as a single piece, and the bracket is an integral component of the elastomer mounting body.

  • Patent number: 6951341
Abstract: The invention relates to a stabilizer for a motor vehicle. Known one-piece stabilizers are designed either solely for operation in road traffic or solely for off-road operation. Two-piece stabilizers that comprise an engaging and disengaging clutch have disadvantages regarding quality and safety. The invention provides a clutch, drivers (14, 17) of which form at least two adjustable gaps in the peripheral direction. The gaps can be filled by at least two locking elements (25) that can be displaced to a certain extent. The locking elements (25) and said drivers (14, 17) are constantly in positive engagement with one another in the peripheral direction and are adjusted to one another in such a manner that the locking elements (25) and the drivers (14, 17) are interlocked without play in the locked final position and that they can be rotated towards one another across a limited angle in the unlocked final position.

  • Publication number: 20040265046
Abstract: A ball-and-socket joint, for example for use with an articulated support in an automobile, includes an essentially ring-shaped or cup-shaped joint housing and a bearing shell disposed in an interior space of the joint housing. The ball of a ball pin is slidingly received in the bearing shell. The inside contour of the joint housing and the outside contour of the bearing shell are essentially shaped as a truncated cone. The bearing shell can be essentially freely positioned in the joint housing in an axial direction of the ball pin. The position at which the bearing shell is anchored in the joint housing can then be precisely and reproducibly adjusted by way of the truncated conical surfaces. The service life, robustness and quality of ball-and-socket joints can be significantly improved during manufacture, while simplifying their fabrication and reducing their manufacturing cost.
