Abstract: A flywheel (1000) comprising a plurality of discs (1002) arranged in a stack (1004), including at least first and second end discs at either end of the stack (1004), in which each disc (1002) includes a central region (1034) and a peripheral region (1032) disposed around the central region (1034), the peripheral region (1032) being adjacent to a peripheral edge of the disc (1002), first and second plate members (1006) disposed at opposing ends of the stack (1004), and bonding means (1030) which bonds only part of each disc (1002) to each neighbouring disc (1002) in the stack (1004), including bonding together adjacent peripheral regions (1032) of neighbouring discs (1002), and which bonds each of the first and second plate members (1006) respectively to the first and second end discs of the stack (1002).
