Publication number: 20130214163Abstract: A method of sensing motion in a predetermined area is provided. The method may include using a digital output motion sensor to produce a digital output signal indicative of the presence of motion in the predetermined area. The method may further include transmitting the digital output signal along a signal path independent of analog amplification and filtering. The method may also include using a microprocessor coupled to the signal path to receive the digital output signal and to process the digital output signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2011Publication date: August 22, 2013Applicant: Leviton Manufacturing CorporationInventors: Paul Soccoli, Michael Ostrovsky, Al Lombardi

Patent number: 7683755Abstract: Systems and techniques for a lighting control system which include a control switch to control an electrical device are disclosed herein. The control switch includes a master display to display status information of the electrical device. Additionally, a remote control switch couples to provide user-initiated commands to the control switch for controlling the electrical device. The remote control switch includes a display and receive signals from the control switch to display the same status information of the electrical device which enables a user in a location separate from the electrical device to accurately control the electrical device. A second embodiment of the control system may include a unidirectional switch which generates additional control signals that are transmitted to the control switch for control of the electrical device.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2005Date of Patent: March 23, 2010Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing Corporation, Inc.Inventors: Michael Ostrovsky, Damon Bruccoleri

Publication number: 20100013391Abstract: Apparatus and methods for supporting a lamp. The apparatus may include a ballast, a rigid power distribution unit, and a lamp holder. The lamp holder may be in electrical communication with the rigid power distribution unit. The rigid power distribution unit may include a track that has conducting rails for supplying power to lamp holders. The track may be used to position lamp holders at any desired spacing so the track may be used in connection with fixture designs requiring different center-to-center lamp spacing. In some embodiments, the rigid power distribution unit may include a printed circuit board. The lamp holder may clamp or be soldered onto the printed circuit board and draw power from it. The printed circuit board may have traces from each lamp holder to be plugged into it.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 15, 2008Publication date: January 21, 2010Applicant: Leviton Manufacturing CorporationInventors: Robert Quercia, Greg Galluccio, Anthony Tufano, Francisco Schapira, Ruel Sarino

Patent number: 7448892Abstract: This invention is directed to a lamp holder for receiving the contact pins at the end of a fluorescent lamp. More specifically, for a ceiling mounted fixture, the lamp holders for the contact pins of a fluorescent lamp each include two downwardly extending straight elongated slots or channels spaced to receive the contact pins of the lamp. Mounting of the lamp is accomplished by inserting each pin of the lamp into its own downwardly extending slot in the lamp holder and then pushing the pins up into the slots until they reach the end where they are automatically locked to the lamp holders. The lamp in not twisted or rotated to lock it to the lamp holder. As the contact pins of the lamp are inserted into the channels of the lamp holder, they are captured by a latching member which automatically locks the pins to the receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2005Date of Patent: November 11, 2008Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing CorporationInventors: Todd Dowdle, Scott Mast
