The adapter couples the projectile staging mechanism to a conventional paintball marker with a particular barrel configuration. Different adapters can be used to couple the projectile staging mechanism to different conventional paintball markers with different barrel configurations. Thus, the projectile staging mechanism may coupled with various paintball markers provided a proper adapter is utilized to match a particular barrel configuration. The paintball marker conversion unit allows a conventional paintball marker to fire projectiles other than paintballs.
