  • Patent number: 7450781
Abstract: A method of enlarging an image field of a camera by combining partial images. This method includes continuously rotating at least two refractive prisms such that an optical axis of the at least two prisms scans in a cycloidal pattern. Furthermore the method includes capturing and combining a plurality of partial images. Finally, the cycloidal pattern is formed as an astroid pattern with a plurality of vertexes. The partial images are generated at the time of the reversal movement during the scanning in the astroid pattern, which limits unsharpness in the images kept to less than the size of a pixel.

Furthermore the method includes capturing a plurality of partial images. Finally, the cycloidal pattern is formed as an astroid pattern with a plurality of vertexes. The present invention further relates to an apparatus having a first refractive prism that is configured to rotate about an axis and a second refractive prism that is configured to rotate about the axis. The apparatus further includes a camera that captures a plurality of partial images. Finally, the first refractive prism and the second refractive prism form an optical axis that follows a cycloidal pattern. The instant abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Patent number: 6723974
Abstract: A process for the adaptive beam control of medium-energy laser weapons for fighting electro-optical sensors and windows, wherein the behavior of the laser power reflected from a bright spot of the target and measured by a thermal image apparatus during increasing irradiation intensity is analyzed during a phase of measurement. The laser power to be emitted that will lead to the desired laser beam diameter or to the highest possible laser intensity at the target during the subsequent phase of fighting is then derived by calculation from this as well as other parameters influencing the thermal beam expansion. It is thus made possible that the laser does not always have to be operated with the maximum power, but only with the currently needed power during the phase of fighting, so that a saving is achieved in the consumption of primary laser energy. One example is explained.

  • Patent number: 6669126
Abstract: A storage device for data transmission lines, which serve for data transmission between a moving object and a base station, has a spool unit (2) on which a data transmission line (1) is wound in the form of a package of several layers (21) of windings. The windings in each layer are introduced at a maximum tensile stress or force, which is dependent on the modulus of elasticity of thedata transmission line (1). In this way, a creep or flow of the material of data transmission line (1), which is due to the pressure that is produced on the individual layers (21), is reduced or avoided, and a stable ordering of the windings is assured over a long period of time. The pressure of a winding on the layer (21) lying thereunder is less than 0.6 N/mm2, at least in the lower region of the windings. The maximum tensile stress is calculated from the diameters of data transmission line (1) and spool unit (2), the modulus of elasticity of data transmission line (1) and the total number N of layers (21) of the package.

  • Patent number: 6591607
Abstract: A hydraulic manipulator having an ergonomic handle and good transmission behavior. There is an input drive element of the manipulator which is a hydraulic pump with two conveyance directions. The input drive movement is introduced on the drive shaft of the hydraulic pump as a rotary movement. This device is used in hydraulic manipulators with an input drive element for introducing an input drive movement into a closed hydraulic circuit and a control element for an output drive movement from the hydraulic circuit.

  • Patent number: 6462322
Abstract: The invention relates to a missile for combating stationary and/or moving targets comprising a seeker head (100), an effective charge which is arranged behind said seeker head in the direction of flight, a thruster such as a solid fuel booster having lateral outlet nozzles which is arranged behind the effective charge in the direction of flight, and a guiding section (104) which is arranged behind the thruster in the direction of flight. The guiding section comprises controllable aerofoils (105a, 105b) such as lateral and/or tail fins, and a guiding device. The missile also comprises a cruise engine (107) which is arranged on the tail, whereby the cruise engine is detachably connected to the guiding section by means of a first quick-acting closure (109a, 109b) such as a manually operable bayonet closure or the like.

  • Patent number: 6455828
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for combating near-surface and/or surface targets such as tanks or the like by using a missile comprising a seeker head, an effective charge and at least one thruster. According to the invention, the missile is redirected into an essentially horizontal cruising and seeking phase after completing an essentially vertical start phase. During said cruising and seeking phase, the missile scans the terrain ahead of it using the seeking head, whereupon an approaching phase which is directed in an essentially downward direction follows after the finally ensues head locks onto an identified target. An external reconnaissance system in an appropriate aircraft and/or spacecraft such as in a helicopter, a drone or in a satellite receives information for guiding the missile which is transmitted to the same.

  • Patent number: 5975461
Abstract: A vane control system (2) for a guided missile (1) with at least two vanes (3) has two toothed rings (7, 8), which are arranged in parallel to one another on both sides of the vane axes (18), are driven by pinions (15, 16) which are driven by electric motors and rotate continuously. Two drive gears (11, 17), which engage one of the toothed rings (7, 8) and rotate together with them such that they have opposite directions of rotation, are arranged on each vane axis (18). A clutch disk (19), which can be connected to one of the drive gears (11, 17), as a result of which the vanes (3) can be rotated in the desired direction, is arranged between the drive gears (11, 17). A brake (22) for fixing the vane axis (18) and an incremental transducer (23) for indicating the actual position of the vane are arranged on each vane axis (18).
