  • Patent number: 6885352
Abstract: An antenna assembly for wireless communications has various components to minimize signal influence when transmitting signals to minimize undesirable loop formation phenomena caused by (positive) feedback of signals. Signal wave scattering and diffraction causing back lobe radio frequency (RF) patterns are minimized by a particular antenna assembly structure having a reflector and at least one attenuating structural member, a metallic mesh wrapping the power cable of a feeder, a non-conductive antenna support structure, or any combination thereof. The dimensions of the various components, in particular the reflector and attenuators, can be varied according to desired wireless communications environment.

  • Publication number: 20030110506
Abstract: A method for adjusting data transmission speed in a VOD (video on demand) service system, wherein video data from a VOD server is transmitted to a mobile communication terminal in accordance with a VOD service request is provided. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, the method comprises analyzing power control information transmitted between a base station and a mobile communication terminal, wherein the base station provides the means of communication between the mobile communication terminal and a VOD server. The transmission speed of video data transmitted to the mobile communication terminal from the VOD server is then adjusted based on the power control information.

  • Patent number: 6208862
Abstract: A method of realizing hard handoff between frequency assignments in a mobile communication system is disclosed. The method is capable of building and managing base stations having different FA while significantly reducing the probability of call drops during hard handoff between FA, such that the call capacity can be increased. The method of realizing hard handoff between different FA includes the steps of setting guard sectors among sectors of a plurality of base stations, allowing a mobile station to transmit a message which requests handoff at a boundary area between the base stations to a base station currently in service, implementing soft handoff between the base stations, and implementing hard handoff between FA after implementing the soft handoff.
