Abstract: A covering element includes a carrier plate including a mineral material, wherein the carrier plate is formed as a flat mineral carrier plate having a thickness between 3 and 15 millimeters (mm), complementary recesses and protrusions formed, respectively, on opposing lateral edges of the carrier plate, such that, in an assembled condition of two or more covering elements, the complementary recesses and protrusions are configured to engage with complementary protrusions and recesses, respectively, of another of the two or more covering elements, and a decor layer with a polymer and on a front side of the carrier plate. The décor layer includes at least at least one, color pigment-containing, printing layer.

Abstract: The invention relates to an area covering element including at least one sheet-like carrier core, at least one protective layer and a decorative layer arranged between the sheet-like carrier core and the at least one protective layer. The sheet-like carrier core consists in this case of a strong, load-bearing carrier material and has at least an upper side and an underside arranged opposite from the upper side and also at least a first and second side face, arranged opposite from one another and respectively joining the upper side and underside. The decorative layer is formed by a printed film, which is firmly connected to the carrier core, the printed film at least partially covering at least the upper side and the first and second side faces of the sheet-like carrier core and the protective layer covering the full surface area at least of the printed film connected to the carrier core.

The carrier plate has a thickness between 3 and 15 mm and carries a polymer-containing decor layer on a front side of the carrier plate. Complementary recesses and protrusions are provided on opposing lateral edges of the carrier plate of the covering element, such that in an assembled condition of two or more covering elements the complementary recesses and protrusions engage with each other, wherein a portion of a polymer contained in the polymer containing decor layer penetrates into the carrier plate.
