Patent number: 11931271Abstract: A prosthetic foot includes a foot portion and a switching adapter. The switching adapter includes a first member coupled to the foot portion, a second member, a third member interposed between the first member and the second member, and a locking mechanism. The third member has a first side wall and a second side wall larger in length than the first side wall. The third member is configured to rotate relative to the first member and the second member towards a first position, thereby placing the prosthetic device in a walking mode. The third member is further configured to rotate relative to the first member and the second member towards a second position, thereby placing the prosthetic device in a running mode. The locking mechanism is configured to rotate with the third member in response to rotation of the third member.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Liberating Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Benjamin Bokser, Kevin Keough, Aaron Taszreak, Todd Farrell, Jennifer Johansson, Sangwoo Park, Kevin Lawrence

Publication number: 20220039973Abstract: A system and method for transmission of a signal for a powered assistive device has a sensor node with a wireless transmitter adapted for digitally transmitting a transmitted signal, the sensor node adapted for receiving and monitoring a sensor signal from a sensor attached to a user, and a master node with a controller and a wireless receiver for receiving the transmitted signal from the wireless transmitter. The master node processes the transmitted signal and communicates a control signal to the powered assistive device. The wireless transmitter transmits the transmitted signal at a first rate when the wireless transmitter adapted to transmit the transmitted signal at a first rate when the sensor signal is indicative of the rest state and to transmit the transmitted signal at a second rate when the sensor signal is indicative of the active state, the second rate being greater than the first rate.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2021Publication date: February 10, 2022Applicants: Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Liberating Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Benjamin Edward McDonald, Todd Richard Farrell, Edward Clancy, Jianan Li, Xinming Huang

Publication number: 20170325975Abstract: A prosthetic socket cooling system and method includes a strap for coupling about a limb fitted with a prosthetic socket. One or more thermally conductive heat spreaders are associated with the strap and may be at least partially seated underneath the prosthetic socket. A heat extraction subsystem is coupled to at least one of the lengthy heat spreaders and carried by the strap. In one version, heat spreaders may form sections of the strap.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2017Publication date: November 16, 2017Applicants: Liberating Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Kristen LeRoy, Ian Cohen, Gordon B. Patent number: 6674460Abstract: A method and system for providing, in a television system, the combination, transmission, and reception of multiple video presentations over a single channel of a television distribution system. Presentations may be concurrently broadcast for viewing by many users, as well as interactively requested for display by many (potentially a thousand or more) individual users. A presentation consists of a sequence of images which reproduce a full motion, reduced motion, or a still image video presentation for the user when displayed. The signal is transmitted in a standard television format, and consists of a sequence of video images from the various presentations being transmitted. A user terminal receiving the transmitted signal is selectably operable to display one of the multiple transmitted presentations with accompanying audio. The terminal identifies the video images of the selected presentation, stores and displays the images on an associated television receiver.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1998Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: Liberate Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Michael Pocock, Allan Lodberg, Peter Coumans
