Abstract: A device for protecting growing plants constructed from corrugated plastic and folded in the form of a straight or tapered hexagonal column having two hinged lid panels which may be opened to provide ventilation or closed to provide protection for the plant.

Abstract: A hand truck comprising an upright frame having an upper frame section which is telescopingly attached to a lower frame section to permit the height of the frame to be adjusted and clamped into position. A short toe plate extends forwardly from the bottom of the lower frame section, and is slightly narrower than a standard file cabinet. A pair of wheels are conventionally mounted to the rear of the lower frame section. A retaining arm having a hooked end bracket is pivotally and slidably mounted to a crossbar of the upper frame section, such that the retaining arm may be pivoted in a vertical plane generally perpendicular to a plane defined by the front surface of the lower frame section, and slidingly extended forward and retracted backward relative to the crossbar. A spring-loaded clamp assembly serves for pivoting the retaining arm, and for restraining the arm against sliding movement.

Abstract: A hanging display having a circuitous metal hoop which supports a doubled layer of nylon mesh netting. The netting is initially formed as a tube which is threaded through the hoop and folded back upon itself and knotted to form a basket. The basket is easily deformable to contain a large quantity and variety of products, and returns to its initial shape as products are removed. The hook and netting may be supported from above by cables, on pegboard hooks, or by a freestanding frame member.

Abstract: A compact disc security holder comprised of a base section and pivoting lid member connected to the base section by a hinge panel. The base section has side walls defining a compartment region with an open section and an enclosed section, the lid member having pivoting into alignment over the open section to thereby enclose it. The lid member has several flat depending barbs which engage within slots in the side walls of the base section. A pivotal retaining member defined by and hingedly connected to the bottom wall of the base section may be pivoted upwardly to engage the lid member and divide the compartment region into a pair of subcompartments each having different lengths.

Abstract: A pleated ridge cap ventilator constructed from a single, generally square sheet of double-faced corrugated polyethylene sheet material which is cut and scored into a series of interconnected longitudinal panels. Each score line alternately cuts entirely through one of the two opposing planar plies of the blank and through the intermediate corrugated ply, leaving the remaining planar ply intact to hingedly connect the adjoining panels. The widths of the panels form a generally increasing progression from the outer edge panels inwardly to the center panels. The center panels are connected by removing a wider section of one planar ply and the intermediate corrugated ply, leaving the opposing planar ply to act as a bridge. The blank is then accordion folded along the score lines to form two inverted pyramid-shaped ventilating sections joined at the top by the bridge, which are bent downwardly relative to one another into an inverted V-shape of approximately the same angle as the slope of the roof.

Abstract: A mail sorting apparatus having a pair of opposing side panels, a top panel, a pair of opposing back panels, and a plurality of shelving members extending between the opposing side panels. The shelving members are supported by brackets having spaced apart shelf supporting tabs, the brackets being located along the opposing side panels and back panels. The shelving members are divided into compartments by a plurality of dividers, with the dividers being received within slots extending through the shelving members. The size of the compartments is adjustable by modifying the spacing of the shelving members and placement of the dividers.

Abstract: A data cartridge handling system comprising a plurality of carrying cases, each case having a base, a hinged lid, and a carrying handle, and each being of suitable dimensions to house an insertable partitioned tray designed to hold a predetermined number of data tape cartridges having one of a variety of sizes. The cases may be removably inserted into a shelving module by sliding the case horizontally between spaced supports, and the entire system may be placed on a desktop or inverted and mounted under a desk or table.

Abstract: A container and lid assembly including a container having a cylindrical side wall and top rim, and a lid having an inverted U-shaped rim and depending skirt portion which is snapped over the rim of the container wall to form a sealing closure therewith. An annular ridge projects inwardly from the inner surface of the skirt portion so as to ride over and engage under the upper bead of the container wall, thereby creating single point interference fits between the container and lid. The outer edge of a first shoulder engages a score line on the inner surface of the skirt portion defining a bi-directional tear strip. The distal end of the tear strip closely confronts a second shoulder when the container is originally sealed. The inside wall of the lid prevents the container from being deformed or collapsing when opened.

Abstract: A tote and storage container of the variety used for filing and archive purposes comprising a rectangular body folded from corrugated plastic, a combined handgrip and stacking frame member, and a lid unit which may be selectively removed from or hingedly mounted to the container. The combined handgrip and stacking frame reinforces the handgrip openings in the container body and the top corners of the container walls, provides a stacking shoulder allowing containers without lids to be stacked, and has a retaining rim to keep a vertical column of like containers stacked without the containers sliding off the top or becoming misaligned. The lid unit may be securely attached to the container to support heavy loads when the container is inverted, may be pivoted open or closed along a hinge line, or may be completely removed.

Abstract: An open top support base for articles such as steel flat files, desk tops, and the like. The open top support base comprises a pair of opposing side panels, a back panel and a bottom shelf panel each extending between the side panels, a pair of leg weldments extending along the bottom edge and parallel with each side panel, and a pair of support braces attached to the top edge of each side panel and extending parallel thereto. The article may thus be rested upon or secured to the open top support base to elevate the article from the floor, or to provide a work surface or suitable height for a person to work while seated.

Abstract: A tote carrier formed from a generally planar blank of sheet material cut and scored to comprise a rectangular bottom panel, a pair of side wall panels and a pair of end wall panels hingedly connected to the bottom panel, and a pair of end foldover panels hingedly connected to the ends of each side wall panel. The side and end wall panels are folded upwardly to define an open top receptacle region. The end foldover panels are folded inwardly and may be attached either to the inner or outer surfaces of the end wall panels to secure the carrier in an upright position. Striplike portions along the top of each side wall panel, and an adjacent striplike portion of each end foldover panel, are separated from the corresponding side wall or end foldover panel by a cut line to define a pair of handle straps, while each end of the handle straps remain connected to the adjoining end foldover panels.

Abstract: A tote container assembly having a pair of support panels, each support panel being formed from a corrugated plastic material and having a longitudinal grain. The support panels are positioned with their grains perpendicular to one another, and each panel is folded into a U-shape. The edges of the panels are fastened by sonic welds over a wire rim member which extends around the top peripheral edge of the tote container, and defines a pair of handgrips on opposing sides of the container. The corners of the rim member are curved to present stacking shoulders at the top corners of the container.

Abstract: A data carousel stand for accessible storage of data-holding materials is disclosed, having a base, a hollow vertical central hub for adjustably supporting a hollow vertical newel. One or more data carousels is rotatively mounted on the newel, each carousel comprising a plurality of radial arms in vertically adjustable offset stacked array. Each arm has a slidable upwardly extending bracket on each side which cooperate to hold data-containing materials therebetween.

Abstract: A reel core having a molded hub section of generally cylindrical shape including a barrel surface upon which rope-like articles may be wound or coiled and end flanges. The hub section has an axle bore to receive an axle upon which the reel core is rotated. At each end of the hub section is a flange mounting rim comprised of two thin rim walls spaced apart the thickness of the flange material. Each outer rim wall has a rim notch. Each flange has an aperture including a notch corresponding to the notch on the flange mounting rim. The inner edge of the aperture adjacent to the notch is inserted into the rim notch of the mounting rim from one direction, and rotated in that same direction to mount the flanges within the rim. A variety of sizes, shapes, and materials may be used to form the flanges, which may be selectively attached or removed.

Abstract: A tamper-proof display holder for magnetic tape cassettes incorporates a cassette storage compartment having a cassette insertion opening in one end. After a cassette is inserted into the storage compartment, the opening is blocked against cassette removal by an elongated stop member forced through an aperture in one of the compartment walls so as to extend across the trailing side of the cassette with respect to the direction of cassette insertion. The stop member is firmly fixed in place in the aperture.

Abstract: A produce transport and cooling container of a generally boxlike shape with bottom support panels having retroverse tabs and apertures which strengthen the container bottom as progressively heavier loads are added. Lid and drainage apertures, and stacking projections, allow the containers to be stacked in a stable manner, and cool water misted over the produce to keep it fresh during transit.

Abstract: A portable, open top utility tote container constructed and shaped from a lightweight yet durable, semirigid, corrugated plastic material used to store or transport an unlimited variety of household or industrial items. The receptacle portion of the container is formed from a single sheet of material, cut, scored into panels, and folded to the shape of a tapered rectangular box. End panels and side flaps are folded over a reinforcing rim which runs around the top perimeter of the container, the end panels being cut out to form hand grips at opposing ends of the container, and the side flaps creating a firm stacking shoulder upon which the container may rest when stacked on other similar containers. The single sheet of material from which the receptable is formed, when extended in a single plane, has a configuration confined by a rectangle whose length and width are the distances between the outer edges of the end panels and side flaps.

Abstract: A carrier for circuit boards and the like provides an adjustable, rigid, precision aligned structure having only three types of elements held together by a few screw fasteners. Rigidly straight glide plates have rows of partially punched out glide lugs which provide low friction, nonjamming insertion and removal of boards by automatic equipment.

Abstract: A stand is designed for holding a computer printer and in particular mounts the printer at right angles to conventional practice so that the platen of the printer runs front to back on the stand rather than side to side. Such an arrangement allows easier access to the printer. The stand is provided with a shelf below the top surface for storage of paper which is to be printed, and provision is made for a slot in one or both side walls to feed the paper upwardly and outwardly into the printer. Each of the two side walls is generally planar and imperforate with the exception of the slots for the aforementioned paper feed. A basket may also be provided for reception of the paper after printing.

Abstract: A container is designed for packaging cassettes or eight-track tapes at the point of sale. The container will hold up to two cassettes or one eight-track and is designed so that once the merchandise has been inserted, the container is closed permanently and must be cut or otherwise destroyed in order to remove the merchandise, such removal to take place by the consumer at home after purchase.
