  • Patent number: 11393042
Abstract: Home telematics devices are engineered to identify unique device signatures for all appliances, fixtures, and so on that generate voltage noise, pressure waves, and acoustic responses throughout a property. The device signatures comprise the inventory of devices in the insured's home and are used to create an electronic record of the devices that assists him in filing a claim with an insurer that is quick and easy after a theft or total loss. Using the device signatures provided by home telematics devices' sensing an itemization technology, fraud detection is also possible. Additionally, analytics software predicts possible failure by analyzing the device signatures.

  • Patent number: 11385063
Abstract: A distance-based score approximation having improved computational efficiency is provided. Responsive to receiving a score request, an observation point is identified based the score request. A geographic database is queried for map information corresponding to geometry elements located within a predetermined maximum distance of the observation point. A plurality of sections of the geometry elements are defined. Each section is associated with one of a plurality of groups of sections based on map information corresponding to a geometry element corresponding to the section. For each of the plurality of sections, an impact curtain area is determined. For each group of sections, the impact curtain area for each section associated with the group is aggregated to define a contribution for the group. The contribution for each group of sections is aggregated to determine the distance-based score. The distance-based score is provided for display via a display of a user computing entity.

  • Patent number: 11328000
Abstract: Example embodiments may flatten structured data (e.g., extensible markup language (XML)) to two tables, a lineage table and an attribute table. The lineage table describes hierarchical relationships in the structured data and values of respective elements. The attribute table contains a normalized list of attributes in the structured data. Together the lineage and attribute tables comprise data that could enable recreation of the structured data without any loss of data. In some examples, the tables may be compressed. The flattening of the structured data into two tables, and optional compression of the tables, provides for efficient access and querying of the data. Example embodiments may provide automated and/or processing of additional structured data, ongoing over time, even if the expected hierarchy of the data changes over time.

  • Patent number: 11257200
Abstract: A distance-based score approximation having improved computational efficiency is provided. Responsive to receiving a score request, a computing entity identifies an observation point based on a location indicated in the score request and defines a set of annuli comprising a plurality of concentric annuli centered on the observation point and defined by a predetermined maximum radius. The computing entity queries a geographic database for map information corresponding to geometry elements located within the predetermined maximum radius of the observation point and determines an intersection of each geometry element with each annulus. The computing entity determines a contribution for each intersection based at least in part on a size of the intersection, a measure assigned to the corresponding geometry element, and a representative radius of the corresponding annulus.

  • Patent number: 11250515
Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed for automatically processing a claim provided by a user. Responsive to receiving a notice of loss associated with a claim of a user, a set of customer identity validation data are collected. The set of customer identity validation data may be determined to meet a pre-defined identity validation criteria. Responsive to determining that the set of customer identity validation data meets the pre-defined identity validation criteria, current claim evaluation data for the claim may be accessed. A set of predictive impact assessment scores associated with the current claim evaluation data may be determined using a predictive model. The set of current claim evaluation data may be determined to meet pre-defined claim data criteria by comparing the predictive impact assessment scores with a set of impact assessment thresholds. Responsive to determining that the set of current claim evaluation data meets the pre-defined claim data criteria, a reactive action to the claim may be determined.

  • Patent number: 10977737
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for generating a generalized linear model structure definition by generating a gradient boosted tree model and separating each decision tree into a plurality of indicator variables upon which a dependent variable of the generalized linear model depends. A first number of plurality of decision tree structures each having a maximum tree depth of one (1) is formed, where the first number represents a number of decision tree structures necessary to exhaust all main effects of a plurality of predictor variables on a dependent variable. Successive pluralities of decision tree structures each having a maximum tree depth increased by one (1) as compared to its immediately preceding plurality of decision tree structures are iteratively formed. Each successive plurality of decision tree structures comprises a second number of decision tree structures necessary to exhaust all interactions between the plurality of predictor variables.

  • Patent number: 10878329
Abstract: The probabilistic accumulation method is an independent and comprehensive approach for validating third-party catastrophe models. The method starts with a standard technique, namely, a limited scenario accumulation analysis, and extends the approach via a novel sampling methodology to evaluate the third-party models against a significantly larger data set. The sampling approach includes a technique for extending the fixed frequency and severity assumption used by the vendor catastrophe models. The result is a more complete set of loss estimates against which to evaluate the vendor model output.

  • Patent number: 10733672
Abstract: A system is engineered to facilitate calculation of predicted perils connected with a ridesharing vehicle. The system facilitates premium endorsement that provides higher coverage than is provided under conventional products and allows drivers to work directly with their personal lines insurer in reviewing their coverage and filing a claim in the event of an accident. The subject matter facilitates higher limits while including a post-policy period audit that allows a reconciliation of high-use or high-risk driving with appropriate retroactive rate adjustments. The system also facilitates retroactive rate adjustments that would compare a policyholder's time/distance driven or collected telematics data (including time or distance driven in each driving period) to the group average or other historical underwriting data.

  • Patent number: 10679301
Abstract: A system quantifies the extent of a damaged vehicle in the absence of a specialist (appraiser) present onsite. The system enables an objective estimate of the damage, supplanting or merely supplementing psychologically biased claimant reporting. The system has hardware structures to perform imagery quantification of damage on a damaged vehicle. The damaged vehicle may be located anywhere, including at the scene of an accident, at an insured's home, at an insurer's claims offices, or at a body shop. Anyone, including the insured, with a mobile device such as a smart phone, may download onto it a mobile application that guides the user to take photographs or moving images of the damaged vehicle for the system to perform imagery quantification of damage.
