    Abstract: The invention relates to the novel use of plants and plant extracts for treating schizophrenia. Said plants and plant extracts are selected from St John's wort, gingko, saffron and ginseng. The use of said substances occurs preferably in conjunction with conventional psychotherapeutic drugs, i.e. in the form of a preparation combining standard medicaments for treating schizophrenia for the simultaneous, separate or graduated use in case of schizophrenia. The invention also relates to methods for treating schizophrenia.
