Patents Assigned to Life Force Associates, L.P.
  • Patent number: 5437494
Abstract: A seat for supporting a passenger in a vehicle comprises a seat base including front and rear portions. The seat base is coupled to the vehicle such that, upon a predetermined acceleration of the vehicle, the seat base moves rearward away from a rest position with the front portion of the seat base moving along a first predetermined path and the rear portion of the seat moving along a second predetermined path. The first and second paths are oriented such that, as the seat base travels further from the rest position, the elevation of the rear portion of the seat base increases relative to the elevation of the front portion of the seat base.

  • Patent number: 5366269
Abstract: An apparatus for restraining an object includes an anchor member movably coupled to a frame and a restraining member selectively coupleable about the object to maintain the object on an object support structure. The restraining member is coupled to the anchor member such that, upon a sudden acceleration of the frame, the anchor member moves from a rest position along at least a portion of a predetermined path so that the restraining member is gradually tightened about the object as the anchor member moves further from the rest position. The anchor member moves in response to an inertial force of the object which is transmitted to the anchor member via the restraining member.

  • Patent number: 5110182
Abstract: A portable seat especially adapted for use as a baby seat has a portable base with means for releasably attaching the base to the seat of a vehicle and a seat supported by the base, connected between the portable base and the seat by which the seat can move relative to the base in a controlled manner to elevate the front and the rear of the seat in the same action as the seat moves forward such as occurs by inertia upon a sudden deceleration, the entire apparatus being self-contained and portable so that the apparatus can be removed or installed as desired.

  • Patent number: 5022707
Abstract: A vehicle safety device designed to respond to a sudden stopping of a vehicle by controlling movement of both the front and the rear of a vehicle seat in forward and upward directions. In various embodiments the movement is controlled by ramps and linkages and by various combinations of ramps and links. The linkage may be a single component link or a linkage of two components pivotally connected together. The ramp may be defined by a straight slot or by an arcuate slot or a combination thereof.
