    Abstract: The invention provides compositions and methods for delivering compounds to cells. The invention is directed, in part, to virus-like particles which contain biological materials such as carbohydrates, proteins and nucleic acids. The invention is also directed, in part, to methods for delivering compounds to cells involving contacting cells with the compounds under conditions which allow for uptake of the compounds by cells and release of the compounds into the cells which take it up.
