Patent number: 11305681Abstract: A resilient seal for living quarters that is for sealing around a slide out room that has an aperture slidably receiving a slide out room. The resilient seal has a pair of attaching members extending along the inside and outside surfaces of the main living area wall at the aperture and includes a connecting member that extends between the attaching members and along the edge of the wall defining the aperture. A wiper seal extends from the connecting member for sealing against a wall of a slide out room. A bulb portion is integrally joined to a bridge wall that is bonded to L-shaped tabs on the attaching portion. The bridge wall may be severed from the L-shaped tabs to reveal a groove connector to receive a separate bulb portion connectable thereto. This facilitates replacement of the integral bulb portion.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2020Date of Patent: April 19, 2022Assignee: Lifetime Industries, Inc.Inventors: Edwin E. Ksiezopolski, Kevin J. Patent number: 8870190Abstract: A seal that is particularly useful in sealing tonneau covers to the bed of a vehicle to which the tonneau cover is attached. The bed typically has upstanding walls with upper surfaces that define a top of the bed. The seal has a fixed base that is designed to be mounted to upper surfaces of the bed. A separate seal section has a first mounting portion adapted for connecting to the fixed base. A resilient member extends from the first mounting portion and terminates in a second mounting portion. The second mounting portion is adapted to be affixed to the tonneau cover. When the seal section is in its relaxed, uninstalled state the seal has a substantially S-shaped configuration. When the seal is installed on the tonneau cover and connected to the fixed base on one of the upper surfaces, the seal is U-shaped extending underneath the tonneau cover.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2011Date of Patent: October 28, 2014Assignee: Lifetime Industries, Inc.Inventor: Norman L. Patent number: 8408625Abstract: A resilient seal used in an RV having a slide out room defining an interior space. The RV having a first sidewall having an exterior side, the first sidewall defining an opening through which the slide out room is shifted between extended and retracted positions. The slide out room including a second sidewall spaced from the first sidewall and an end wall defining the interior space. The end wall has a peripheral flange that overlaps the first sidewall when the slide out room is in its closed position. The seal of the present invention includes a single piece integrally connected corner piece having substantially perpendicular legs meeting at a fused mitered watertight corner. The corner piece prevents entry of water where seals supporting the corner piece meet particularly when the slide out room is retracted.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2011Date of Patent: April 2, 2013Assignee: Lifetime Industries, Inc.Inventors: Edwin E. Patent number: 8382124Abstract: A corner seal device for use in combination with wiper seals used in slide-out rooms in recreational vehicles. The corner seal device has a first generally horizontal surface and a second generally vertical surface meeting to form a corner. A third surface extends obliquely from the first surface and has at least some portion that is above the first surface. An end wall may be used to connect the third surface to the second surface. The corner seal device may also be used with a wiper seal having an inner shelf that extends over the third surface of the corner seal device. The inner shelf may also have a C-channel at the end that covers the upper most portion of the third surface of the corner seal device.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2010Date of Patent: February 26, 2013Assignee: Lifetime Industries, Inc.Inventors: Edwin E. Patent number: 8366168Abstract: A sealing system useful for sealing a slide out room in a recreational vehicle (RVs). The sealing system includes a first bulb seal that is adapted for being affixed to a transverse surface that defines an opening in a sidewall of the RV. A second bulb seal is affixed to a peripheral flange that extends from an end wall of the slide out room. Both of the bulb seals have an hourglass shape. The peripheral flange fits within the opening when the slide out room is in its retraced position and the bulb seals meet in a complementary fashion to form a seal. A wedge seal is included spaced inwardly on the sidewalls of the slide out room and is designed to contact the bulb seal attached to the opening when the room is extended. An internal flange is not required for sealing when the slide out room is extended.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2011Date of Patent: February 5, 2013Assignee: Lifetime Industries, Inc.Inventors: Edwin E. Patent number: 7540116Abstract: A mobile structure, such as a recreational vehicle, that includes a wall having first and second opposed surfaces and an edge surface. The edge surface defines an opening through the wall. A slide-out room or other enclosure is moveably located in the opening. A trim member having an integral seal is attached at the opening and the seal is engageable with a flange on the enclosure. A second trim member has an integrally attached flexible member projecting outwardly therefrom. The flexible member engages the enclosure and wipes moisture and debris from the enclosure as it is moved into a retracted position with the mobile structure. The two trim members have an overlapping portion with the opening and can be simultaneously secured to the wall by driving a mechanical fastener through the overlapped portions of the trim members. A method of manufacturing such mobile structures is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2005Date of Patent: June 2, 2009Assignee: Lifetime Industries, Inc.Inventor: Daniel J. Martinson
