Patent number: 7631984Abstract: A flashlight includes a flashlight head assembly that may be used with either one or two batteries. For use with one battery, a body receives a battery therein and the flashlight head assembly is secured to the body. For use with two batteries, an extension unit is secured to the body and the flashlight head assembly is secured to the extension unit. A switch assembly disposed in the body and electrically connected with the flashlight head assembly controls the delivery of power to the flashlight head assembly.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2007Date of Patent: December 15, 2009Assignee: Lightstick Partners, LLC.Inventors: Richard W. Martin, Thomas J. Chadwell, Philip W. Miller, Jr.

Patent number: 7559439Abstract: A tool for self-defense and safety includes a body defining a canister compartment and a flashlight compartment. A flashlight head is securable to the body at a first end. A switch assembly is housed by the body and regulates power delivery to the flashlight head from a battery disposed in the flashlight compartment. A nozzle is securable to the body at a second end. Actuation of a trigger assembly ejects spray through the nozzle from a spray canister disposed in the canister compartment. The trigger assembly is mounted on the body proximate to the switch assembly such that either the trigger assembly or the switch assembly may be actuated without changing grip on the body. In addition, a user may strike with the tool without changing grip on the body.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2003Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignee: Lightstick Partners, LLCInventors: Vito Cellini, Richard W. Martin, L. David Parker

Patent number: 7309147Abstract: A flashlight includes a body, a flashlight head assembly, and a switch assembly. The body includes a first end securable to the flashlight head assembly, a second end, and a substantially cylindrical portion between the first end and the second end. The switch assembly, which is located at the substantially cylindrical portion of the body adjacent the second end, electrically connects with the flashlight head assembly to regulate the delivery of power thereto. The flashlight head assembly includes a first end and a second end securable to the body, a lens disposed in the flashlight head at the first end, a reflector disposed in the flashlight head adjacent the lens, a heat sink disposed in the flashlight head adjacent the reflector, and an LED assembly disposed within the heat sink such that the heat sink substantially completely surrounds the LED assembly.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2005Date of Patent: December 18, 2007Assignee: Lightstick Partners, LLCInventor: Richard W. Patent number: 7000807Abstract: A baton suitable for use in self-defense includes a body adapted to receive a canister of spray therein, a nozzle securable to the body and adapted to receive spray therethrough, and a trigger mounted on the body. The trigger mounts on the body in a location that permits grasping of the body underhanded with the thumb positioned over the trigger to permit movement of the trigger from an unfired position to a fired position that facilitates ejection of spray from the canister through the nozzle. The trigger includes an actuator and a lock coupled therewith. One motion performed with the thumb releases the lock and moves the actuator from the unfired position of the trigger to the fired position of the trigger.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2004Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Assignee: Lightstick Partners, LLCInventors: Vito Cellini, Richard W. Martin
