    Abstract: The invention relates to a solar module with improved bonding. The solar module (100) comprises a front encapsulant layer (104), solar cells (106), a middle encapsulant layer (108), a back contact foil (210b) with a patterned copper pattern (210b) thereon, and a back encapsulant layer (112). Inventors found that, when producing such a solar module, the bonding between the middle encapsulant layer and the copper side of the back contact foil was insufficient. A solution is found in providing cut-outs in the back contact foil through which the back encapsulant layer can bond to the middle encapsulant layer and/or the solar cells.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a solar panel comprising: ? a transparent plate. ? back-contacted solar cells adhered to the transparent plate. ? a back-contact foil (302) electrically and mechanically connected to the solar cells, the back-contact foil equipped with a metallisation pattern facing the solar cells, ? a laminate attached to the back-contact foil. characterized in that ? the back-contact foil shows one or more flaps (304), the end of the flaps more removed from the transparent plate than from the laminate. The back-contact foil is embedded in encapsulant. By adding flaps to the back-contact foil, it is possible to have the end of the flaps extending out of the encapsulant. This enables, for example, the use of connectors for making electric contact to the end of the flaps.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing a solar panel curved in two directions. A problem occurs when solar cells are laminated (attached) to a curved surface (such as the—transparent—roof of a car) that is, at least locally, curved in two directions. Solar cells can bend in one direction (following a cylindrical surface), but to a much smaller degree in two directions. The invention solves this problem by subdividing the multitude of solar cells (100) in subgroups (302L, 302R, 304L, 304R, 306L, 306R, 308L, 308R), each subgroup associated with an area of the curved surface (202). By choosing these subgroups such, that almost no curvature occurs in one direction, the solar cells can be bend in the perpendicular direction. To optimize the efficiency further solar cells are used where anode and cathode are positioned at one side (the side opposite to the photosensitive side), enabling flexible foil to be used for the interconnection of the solar cells in a subgroup.
