Abstract: A pitch control arrangement for a wind turbine of the vertical axis type. Cam element and cam follower element are arranged to set the pitch angle of a turbine blade in accordance with a predetermined cyclic variation. The cam element includes a cam surface of different cam profiles, which define different predetermined cyclic variation of the pitch angle. The present invention provides an improved efficiency for a wind turbine irrespective of actual wind conditions, and further, both self-starting capability and high efficiency at a wide range of rotation speeds is accomplished using a simple and reliable construction.
