Patent number: 7666978Abstract: A technique is described for the preparation of polymers according to a process in which the starting compound of formula (I) is polymerized in the presence of a base in an organic solvent. No end chain controlling agents are required during the polymerization to obtain soluble precursor polymers. The precursor polymer such obtained comprises structural units of the formula (II). In a next step, the precursor polymer (II) is subjected to a conversion reaction towards a soluble or insoluble conjugated polymer by thermal treatment. The arylene or heteroarylene polymer comprises structural units of the formula III. In this process the dithiocarbamate group acts as a leaving group and permits the formation of a precursor polymer of structural formula (II), which has an average molecular weight from 5000 to 1000000 Dalton and is soluble in common organic solvents. The precursor polymer with structural units of formula (II) is thermally converted to the conjugated polymer with structural formula (III).Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2009Date of Patent: February 23, 2010Assignees: IMEC, Limburgs Universitair CentrumInventors: Dirk Vanderzande, Laurence Lutsen, Anja Henckens, Kristof Colladet

Patent number: 6300144Abstract: A method is disclosed for the formation of ferro-electric films using a multi coating process based on a sol-gel technique. In particular a method is disclosed to fabricate high-quality thickness scaled PZT films of an alkoxide-type liquid chemical PZT precursor solution, preferably a Pb(ZrxTi1−x)O3 precursor solution, using a sol-gel technique. At least two coated layers are deposited, but the precise number of coated layers depends on the desired thickness of the ferro-electric film. According to the method of the invention, the electrical characteristics of the film as formed are not dependent on the number of coated layers. There are a number of properties, characteristic for the method of the present invention, and resulting in said excellent electrical characteristics. In fact said method can comprise a multi coating process wherein a reduced number of coated layers is used but where intermediate crystallization steps are performed.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1999Date of Patent: October 9, 2001Assignees: Interuniversitair Micro Elecktronica Centrum (IMEC yzw), Limburgs Universitair CentrumInventors: Dirk Wouters, Gerd Norga, Herman Maes, Ria Nouwen, Jules Mullens, Dirk Franco, Jan Yperman, Lucien C. Patent number: 5833365Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring a parameter of a sample or component at a measurement temperature, wherein the parameter and the measurement temperature are measured at substantially the same time. A temperature coefficient of the sample or component is also established by using temperature fluctuations measured at or near the sample at the time at which the parameter is measured. The temperature coefficient is used to correct the measured parameter data and enhance its stability.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1996Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignees: Interuniversitair Micro-Electronika Centrum vzw, Limburgs Universitair CentrumInventors: Lambert Stals, Luc De Schepper, Jean Roggen, Ward De Ceuninck

Patent number: 5646540Abstract: An apparatus and method for determining the reliability of an electronic component by performing measurements which enable the ageing behavior of a parameter of that component to be predicted over time. The parameter measurements are made in-situ within the oven or environment used to control the temperature at which the measurements are made. The oven is controlled so that its temperature is kept stable, thereby permitting very high resolution measurements to be made over a relatively short time span. The temperature stability of the oven ensures that the changes of the electromagnetic parameter to be measured as a result of temperature fluctuations are negligible relative to the changes as a result of the ageing phenomena which occur in the component over time. The high resolution measurements are then used to model the parameter value as a function of time based on a deterministic model of how that parameter of the component varies over the lifetime of the component.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1995Date of Patent: July 8, 1997Assignees: Interuniversitair Micro-Elektronic Centrum VZW, Limburgs Universitair CentrumInventors: Lambert Mathias Maria Stals, Luc Irena Franciscus De Schepper, Ward Aime Stefan De Ceuninck, Jean Joseph Marie Roggen
