Publication number: 20130205829Abstract: A process and a device for treating a carbon dioxide-containing flue gas stream are described. At least a part of the carbon dioxide present is removed from the flue gas stream by means of a scrubber, forming a low carbon dioxide gas stream and a high carbon dioxide gas stream. The high carbon dioxide and water-saturated gas stream formed from the flue gas stream after removal of the carbon dioxide is cooled by means of a refrigeration system 4 in a heat exchanger 3 below the dew point temperature of the water contained in the gas stream and dried by condensing and separating out the water in a condensate separator 5. The dried gas stream meets the requirements of carbon dioxide products intended for further use.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2010Publication date: August 15, 2013Applicant: LINDE-KCA-DRESDEN GMBHInventors: Torsten Stoffregen, Veselin Stamatov, Thomas Walter, Annett Kutzschbach

Publication number: 20120240619Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for treating a carbon-dioxide-containing gas stream, in particular from a large-scale fired plant, e.g. from a power plant. The precompressed gas stream is separated in a carbon dioxide purification stage into a gas substream having an elevated carbon dioxide content (carbon dioxide product stream) and a gas substream having a decreased carbon dioxide content (vent gas stream). The carbon dioxide product stream is fed to further utilization and/or storage. In particular, by injecting the carbon dioxide underground, the emission of gases harmful to the climate can be reduced. For improving the energy efficiency, it is proposed that the vent gas stream is expanded in at least one expansion turbine and both the resultant kinetic energy and the resultant refrigeration are utilized for energy recovery.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2010Publication date: September 27, 2012Applicant: LINDE-KCA-DRESDEN GmbHInventors: Roland Ritter, Annett Kutzschbach

Publication number: 20120090463Abstract: A process and an apparatus for the treatment of a carbon dioxide-containing flue gas stream are described, at least part of the carbon dioxide present being removed from the flue gas stream in a separating device having in particular an absorption column 7 with the formation of a gas stream having a low carbon dioxide content and a carbon dioxide-rich gas stream. For overcoming the pressure drop caused by the carbon dioxide removal in the absorption column 7, it is proposed that the gas stream having a low carbon dioxide content and formed after the removal of the carbon dioxide from the flue gas stream is subjected to a gas stream compression, for example by means of a flue gas blower 14.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2010Publication date: April 19, 2012Applicant: Linde-Kca-Dresden GmbHInventors: Torsten Stoffregen, Veselin Stamatov, Thomas Walter

Publication number: 20120031269Abstract: A method and a device for purifying a carbon-dioxide-containing gas stream are described, in which the gas stream is first subjected in a lower section (3) of an absorption column (1) to a prescrubbing for conditioning the gas stream and subsequently in an upper section (8) of the absorption column (1) the carbon dioxide is scrubbed out from the gas stream at least in part with a scrubbing liquid. For improving the construction of the absorption column it is proposed that the entire scrubbing liquid loaded with the carbon dioxide which is scrubbed out is taken off from the absorption column (1) and fed to a receiver tank (11) arranged outside the absorption column (1) and subsequently applied to a scrubbing liquid pump (12) which pumps the scrubbing liquid to a scrubbing medium regeneration stage.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2010Publication date: February 9, 2012Applicant: Linde-KCA-Dresden GmbHInventors: Dieter Mihailowitsch, Torsten Stoffregen, Martin Weiss

Publication number: 20110247491Abstract: The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the treatment of a carbon dioxide-containing gas stream from a large-scale combustion plant, in particular of a power station. The gas stream is separated in a carbon dioxide purification stage R into a gas substream having an increased carbon dioxide content and a gas substream having a reduced carbon dioxide content. The gas substream having an increased carbon dioxide content is fed to a further use and/or storage S. In particular, compression of the carbon dioxide under the ground can reduce the emission of gases which affect the climate. To increase the proportion of compressible CO2, it is proposed that the gas substream having a reduced carbon dioxide content is fed to a pressure swing adsorption stage PSA in which a fraction which is rich in carbon dioxide and a fraction which is low in carbon dioxide are produced.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2009Publication date: October 13, 2011Applicant: LINDE-KCA-DRESDEN GMBHInventors: Paul Leitgeb, Werner Sebastian Leitmayr, Torsten Stoffregen, Roland Ritter

Patent number: 7332083Abstract: A process and a device for biological treatment of a suspension in a bioreactor is described, which is made especially as a loop reactor with a central guide pipe (2) and gas injection (3). In order to be able to use the bioreactor for treatment of renewable raw materials as well, it is proposed that the treated suspension be removed from a zone of the bioreactor with a small solid concentration and the removed suspension be routed out of the bioreactor by way of a tilted discharge (4). In the tilted discharge (4), separation of gas and solids is produced, and at least a portion of the solids is returned against the main suspension flow in the discharge (4) to the bioreactor. In this way, even for treatment media with a high concentration of dissolved compounds and few suspended solids, the biomass is concentrated in the bioreactor.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2005Date of Patent: February 19, 2008Assignee: Linde-KCA-Dresden GmbHInventor: Gerhard Langhans

Patent number: 7300584Abstract: A process and a device for biological treatment of a suspension in a bioreactor (2) are described. To circulate the suspension, at least some of the suspension is routed through a vertically aligned guide zone (5) so that a vertical flow of the suspension is produced. To control sediment problems, it is suggested that by feeding a fluid, especially a free liquid jet, via at least one nozzle (11), a horizontal flow is superimposed on the vertical flow in the vicinity of the bottom of the bioreactor (2), by which a spiral flow to the central outlet area of the bioreactor (2) is produced (FIG. 1).Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2004Date of Patent: November 27, 2007Assignee: Linde-KCA-Dresden GmbHInventors: Gerhard Langhans, Matthias Herms, Thomas Buechner
