Abstract: A dihydroxyacetone fortified honey composition, including a mixture of honey and dissolved dihydroxyacetone in a preferred honey to dissolved dihydroxyacetone ratio of 0.5 ml-20 ml of dissolved dihydroxyacetone to each kilogram of honey, wherein the mixture has a moisture content of between one and twenty percent, and wherein the mixture contains a preferred amount of methylglyoxal of between 83 milligrams of methylglyoxal per 1.0 kilogram of honey and 1500 milligrams of methylglyoxal per 1.0 kilogram of honey.

Abstract: A gap-patterned wound dressing, including a patterned foam structure having a gap patterned side and a non-gap patterned side, wherein the gap patterned side includes a pattern of foam gaps disposed between foam areas dosed with honey, where the pattern of foam gaps is formed by the honey dosed areas; and wherein a wound in contact with the gap patterned side discharges an exudate which substantially collects in the individual ones of the foam gaps causing honey in the individual ones of the honey dosed areas to be substantially dispersed throughout a wound treatment zone.

Abstract: A super absorbent, honey-dosed foam/fiber composite, gap patterned wound dressing, comprising: a patterned foam/fiber composite structure having a gap patterned side and a non-gap patterned side, wherein the patterned side includes a pattern of foam/fiber gaps disposed between foam/fiber areas dosed with honey, where the pattern of foam/fiber gaps is formed by the honey-dosed areas, such that the patterned foam/fiber composite structure includes a layer of super absorbent material located substantially adjacent to the honey-dosed areas; and wherein a wound in contact with the gap patterned side discharges an exudate which substantially collects in the individual ones of the foam/fiber gaps causing honey in the individual ones of the honey-dosed areas to be substantially dispersed throughout a wound treatment zone and a portion of the exudate that is collected in the individual ones of the foam/fiber gaps is transferred to and collected in the super absorbent material.

Abstract: A manually operable tablet splitting device, including a base and a cover, pivotally attached to the base, and movable between a tablet loading position and a tablet splitting position. The cover includes a blade for splitting a tablet into two substantially equal portions. A disposable tray, having a tablet-receiving cavity, is installable in the base to fix the tablet in position for splitting and to retain the split portions. The base includes an inclined platform having upwardly projecting receptacle locators for holding the tray in place.

Abstract: A manually operable tablet splitting apparatus, including a base having a frame mounted on an upper surface thereof and a disposable tablet-receiving tray, including a plurality of tablet shaped cavities for receiving and holding the tablets in position to be split. A handle is pivotally attached to the base and is movable between a tablet loading position and a tablet splitting position. The handle includes a blade for splitting the tablets into two substantially equal parts. A retractable shield is provided for covering the blade while it is in the tablet loading position, thereby reducing the likelihood of injury to an operator during operation of the apparatus. Each one of the tray cavities is adapted for receiving a tablet and for holding the received tablet in position for splitting.

Abstract: A pill crusher having an elongated base, an anvil integrally fixed to the base, a movable handle and a compression link, pivotally coupled to the base and pivotally connected to the handle, for facilitating rotational movement of the handle relative to the base. A platen is coupled pivotally to an anchor block on the base and connected at the other end to the handle so that movement of the handle produces movement of the platen relative to the anvil, for crushing a pill between the two. A pouch is provided, for receiving a pill to be crushed. It is adapted to fit in a mouth defined by the anvil and the platen. The pill crusher includes a cover fixed to the base and disposed above the rear anchor block, the cover providing an onboard dispenser for a plurality of pouches.
