Publication number: 20110169231Abstract: A system and method for leveling a vehicle when stationary. The system includes three zones with a first zone at the front end, and the second and third zones on opposite sides of the vehicle. All zones include leveling jacks, each having a blind side and a rod side. At least one leveling jack is located in the first zone, and at least two leveling jacks are located in each of the second and third zones, straddling the wheel on that side, and the blind sides of the jacks in each zone are connected together. The rod sides of all of the jacks are connected to a common fluid line, which typically is low fluid or pressure free. In operation, once the vehicle is stationary, all of the jacks are extended from a retracted position to an extended position meeting the surface upon which the vehicle is located.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2011Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: LIPPERT COMPONENTS, INC.Inventor: Robert Tiedge

Patent number: 7976053Abstract: Disclosed is a trailer hitch system that is configured to rotate to a stowing position and an operating position. When in the operational position, a coupler arm of the trailer is aligned with the longitudinal axis of the trailer so that the coupler arm contributes to the length of the trailer. When in the stowing position, the coupler arm of the trailer is bent at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the trailer so that the coupling arm does not contribute to the overall length of the trailer.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2009Date of Patent: July 12, 2011Assignee: Lippert Components, Inc.Inventor: Dana Stettler

Patent number: 7918478Abstract: An equalizer for a suspension system for a trailer is configured to absorb or dampen the harsh shocks or vibrations coming off of the leaf springs proximate to a center frame hangar, thus allowing for a “softer” ride. The equalizer utilizes one or two independent equalizer arm assemblies or castings which are each rotatably secured within the equalizer. Each equalizer arm assembly or casting is operatively associated with one of the leaf springs such that upon upward movement of the leaf spring, the associated equalizer arm assembly or casting is forced to rotate within the equalizer and to deform a shock absorber provided within the equalizer. The shock absorber, upon the deformation thereof, absorbs the harsh shocks or vibrations which would otherwise normally be transferred from the leaf springs, to the equalizer, and thus to the frame of the trailer.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2006Date of Patent: April 5, 2011Assignee: Lippert Components Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: E. Dale Fenton

Patent number: 7494147Abstract: Disclosed are improved devices for rotatably-coupled trailer coupler assemblies. The disclosed devices include a lock assembly that can be used to lock and unlock a coupler arm of a swing-type trailer coupler assembly in predetermined positions, such as towing and storage positions. The lock assembly includes a lock member that moves between a locked an unlocked state. In the locked state, the lock member locks the coupler arm of the assembly in a predetermined position, such as a towing position. In the unlocked state, the lock member does not interfere with the coupler arm such that the coupler arm is free to move between the towing and storage orientations. An actuator is coupled to the lock assembly. The actuator can be actuated to transition the lock member between the locked and unlocked states. The lock assembly is fixedly mounted to the coupler assembly so that a user does not have to insert and remove the lock member.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2005Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: Lippert Components, Inc.Inventors: Edward R.
