    Abstract: A traction device for a vehicle which includes in a first embodiment, an endless belt mounted on a pair of rotating drums located beneath the vehicle and fitted with multiple angle plates for engaging the crown of the road when the ruts are of such depth as to cause the vehicle to lose traction. In another preferred embodiment, the endless belt is replaced by driven chains carrying the angle plates to achieve the desired auxiliary traction.
