Abstract: A tool for spreading brake pads and for compressing the piston of a disc brake assembly of the type including a disc brake caliper housing for the pads and piston. The tool includes manually operated handles which drive a rod attached to a plunger that engages one of the disc brake pads. The housing for the tool includes a backing plate which is engaged against the caliper pad. The backing plate and plunger are driven in a manner which causes them to become spaced from one another. A mechanical advantage is achieved by utilization of handles with a lever arm extension associated with a pivotal handle.

Abstract: An oil drain pan comprises a unitary, molded plastic container with a bottom panel, a lateral side wall panel and a top panel with a large opening therein. A wire handle is inserted into a peripheral slot in the top panel. Casters are affixed to the side panel intermediate the top and bottom panel so that the container is elevated appropriately but maintains a minimum low profile. The container is symmetrical about a longitudinal axis and further includes a pour spout at the front end thereof.
Abstract: An oxygen sensor removal and installation tool comprises a driving wrench which includes a socket drive with a socket sized to fit onto an oxygen sensor of a vehicle. The driving wrench is made from a thin plate of steel with an attached socket drive projecting at a right angle from the plane of the flat plate. A separate handle includes bifurcated legs which fit over the sides of the opposite end of the flat plate driving wrench and engage a driving surface to vibrate and drive the driving wrench and impart a turning force on the oxygen sensor.
Abstract: A combination step stool and mechanic's seat in the form of a molded plastic, generally parallelepiped configuration includes a seat on one side supported on casters on the opposite side with a step stool surface adjacent the backside of the seat and spaced from a front side surface of the seat which includes a recess tray for tools and other items.
Abstract: A combustion gas detection apparatus includes a transparent tube partially filled with a combustion gas sensing fluid and an inlet fitting for engagement with the radiator cap of an engine cooling system and an outlet fitting for connection with a vacuum port of the engine or other vacuum source.

Abstract: A tool to facilitate removal of a pitman-arm mounted on a shaft includes a main frame member with a threaded center drive rod and radially spaced, depending retention arms pivotally suspended from the frame member. Rotation of the threaded drive rod causes a wedge section at the leading end of the drive rod to separate the legs of the pitman-arm as the retention arms hold the tool in place on the pitman-arm.
Abstract: A tool for spreading dual piston brake pads and for compressing the dual pistons of a dual piston disc brake assembly of the type including a disc brake caliper housing for the pads and pistons. The tool includes manually operated handles which drive a bracket assembly that engages the dual piston disc brake pads. The housing for the tool includes a plate which is engaged against the caliper housing. The plate and bracket assembly are driven in a manner which causes them to become spaced from one another. A mechanical advantage is achieved by utilization of handles with a lever arm extension associated with a pivotal handle.

Abstract: A tool for disengaging electrical connectors includes a central body section with disconnecting prongs projecting from the opposite ends thereof. The prongs are offset relative to the plane of the body section but extend in the same direction so that one set of the prongs forms an arcuate surface which facilitates the use of the prongs to disengage connector sections.
Abstract: A steering column pivot pin removal tool includes a bridge support with a jack nut having a cap screw threaded therethrough for engagement with a pivot pin of a steering assembly. The jack nut is held in place by an O-ring. Reverse rotation of the jack nut effects withdrawal of the pivot pin engaged by the cap screw.
Abstract: A combustion gas detection apparatus includes a transparent tube partially filled with a combustion gas sensing fluid and an inlet fitting for engagement with the radiator cap of an engine cooling system and an outlet fitting connected with a vacuum port of the engine.
Abstract: An engine tilting tool used to tilt transversely mounted General Motors engines includes a tubular bracket member which receives a telescoping tubular member that is driven telescopically by means of a drive rod mounted on the bracket member. The bracket member is attached to the vehicle engine compartment in place of one end of the “dog bone” strut engine support and the telescoping tubular member is attached to the engine in place of the opposite end of the strut engine support. A nut is used to adjust the position of the telescoping tube relative to the tubular bracket member to thereby effect tilting of the engine.
Abstract: A set of tools for installation and a set of tools for removal of studs from a work piece are disclosed. The installation tools include body member with a removable bearing that can be set against the head of a stud that is to be installed in a workpeice. The stud removal tools include a pair of body members which are each mounted on the stud to be removed and tightened against one another so that one of the body members may be rotated to effect removal of a stud.
Abstract: A trim panel removal tool is comprised of a thin metal blade having slots in one end and a lever arm at the opposite end. The slots of the blade may be inserted under the head of a fastener for attaching a trim panel or trim piece to a substrate panel, and the tool may then be twisted to cause disengagement of the trim panel fastener from the substrate panel.
Abstract: A mechanic's stethoscope includes a frustaconical funnel member for collecting the audible sounds of a vehicle system and transmitting those sounds through hollow tubes to ear pads.
Abstract: A flashlight comprises a light source element connected to flexible lead wires powered by batteries in a tubular housing. The electrical connection provides series circuit and a special control button arrangement provides for closing or opening of the series circuit to the light element.
Abstract: A tool for removal of a vehicle water pump, includes a cylindrical metal hollow member with a transverse butt plate welded at one end and teeth formed at the other end to engage tangs on a water pump so that the tool may be rotated to release a water pump from a housing. The teeth are especially constructed to ensure proper engagement thereof with the water pump tangs to effect removal from the water pump housing.
