Abstract: In one embodiment, a document retrieval server and method for its operation are described. The document retrieval server allows a user to search a classification index for the location of documents in an enterprise network that meet specified search criteria, and then automatically export a subset of the documents meeting the search criteria, according to one of several export methods. In one export method, a custodian relational interface is used to identify a custodian for documents meeting the search criteria, and allows the user to control export and generate reports for documents according to their custodian.
