Abstract: The invention comprises a method and a circuit design to control a bi-stable contactor in such a way that contactor coils can be energized in the event of sudden and unexpected loss of battery power. The invention also includes a component redundancy scheme designed to survive any single component failure SHORT or OPEN as required by industry safety standards UL1973 and UL991.

Abstract: A battery pack includes a set of walls made of sturdy material, power interface terminals and battery cells and optionally electronics held within the walls. A spring-loaded check valve installed in a wall of the enclosure fluidly connects an area within the enclosure with an atmosphere outside of the enclosure. The one-way check valve allows pressurized fluids to flow out of the enclosure while preventing pressurized fluids from flowing from the atmosphere into the enclosure.
Abstract: An application for a battery pack that includes walls made of sturdy material, power interface terminals and battery cells/electronics held within the walls. A protective layer contains the battery cells. The protective layer reduces external harm from heat, out-gassing and/or explosion of one or more of the battery cells.
