Abstract: Tubular sausage casings can be prepared from non-animal materials, primarily starches and flours by film-casting followed by gluing with an edible glue composed of konjac and carrageenan. In this way, it has been made possible to prepare non-animal meat casings commercially, that can be used with conventional sausage production technology.

Abstract: Novel film compositions are described for use in the processing of meat products, particularly as sausage casings and wrappers for hams and other cured meat products. By combining gelatin and other hydrocolloid film forming polymer materials, edible film compositions are achieved by solution casting which exhibit superior and desirable properties for adhering to the meat product and presenting a shining, appealing surface.
Abstract: Film-form soap compositions for hand washing or other personal hygienic uses are described in which hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose polymer is admixed with sodium isothionate surfactant to provide compositions having superior properties of strength, rapid dissolution in water and good foaming properties.
