Abstract: Systems and methods for executing sequential suboperations over multiple communication networks. In some aspects, the system receives, via a first communication network, from an external system, an operation related to an aggregated virtual container. The system generates sequential suboperations including a first suboperation associated with a provider of the aggregated virtual container and the external system and a second suboperation associated with the user and the provider of the aggregated virtual container. If the first suboperation is executed successfully, the system transmits the second suboperation to a user system associated with the aggregated virtual container. If the second suboperation is executed successfully, the system generates a first message indicating that the operation has been executed and transmits the first message via the first communication network to the external system.

Abstract: A user device (UE) for scheduling an uplink transmission assignment with a base station that communicates with the user device via a shared carrier, receives, from the base station, a configuration that indicates (i) a first channel access procedure for the user device to perform prior to transmitting an uplink transmission and (ii) at least one occasion at which the user device is to transmit the uplink transmission (1602); receives, from the base station via the shared carrier, a signal indicating at least a portion of a transmission time period during which the shared carrier is available to the base station (1604); and performs the first channel access procedure or a second channel access procedure before transmitting the uplink transmission based at least in part on whether the occasion is within the transmission time period (1606).
Abstract: A thermal management system for a computing device often includes one or more internal heat pipes and conductive structures to move heat from one or more heat-generating components within the computing device to a heat exchanger. For an air-cooled device, one or more exhaust fans blow air across the heat exchanger to transfer heat from the heat exchanger to the air before it is exhausted out of the computing device. While operation of the exhaust fans may be necessary to maintain device temperature below one or more thresholds, exhaust fan operation may be optimized to maximize the user experience. The presently disclosed technology applies distinct exhaust fan speed and/or direction profiles for each of one or more exhaust fans within the computing device to maximize the user experience, particularly to reduce or avoid blowing hot air at the user's hand.

Abstract: Granting access to a communication channel for a user device by a base station includes receiving, from a user device, a request to access the communication channel, the request including a random access preamble and a payload, attempting to decode the payload, selecting a format of a response message in accordance with whether the payload was decoded successfully, and transmitting, to the user device, the response message, including providing an indication of the format of the response message to the user device.
Abstract: In some implementations, a system may receive a notification related to a battery life of a battery of a user device. The system may determine, based on the notification, a battery level of the battery of the user device. The system may select based on the battery level of the battery of the user device, a particular communication scheme, of a plurality of communication schemes, for communicating with a user of the user device. The system may transmit at least one message according to the particular communication scheme.

Abstract: A method for an automated speech recognition (ASR) model for unifying streaming and non-streaming speech recognition including receiving a sequence of acoustic frames. The method includes generating, using an audio encoder of an automatic speech recognition (ASR) model, a higher order feature representation for a corresponding acoustic frame in the sequence of acoustic frames. The method further includes generating, using a joint encoder of the ASR model, a probability distribution over possible speech recognition hypothesis at the corresponding time step based on the higher order feature representation generated by the audio encoder at the corresponding time step. The audio encoder comprises a neural network that applies mixture model (MiMo) attention to compute an attention probability distribution function (PDF) using a set of mixture components of softmaxes over a context window.

Abstract: The technology employs a contrasting color scheme on different surfaces for sensor housing assemblies mounted on exterior parts of a vehicle that is configured to operate in an autonomous driving mode. Lighter and darker colors may be chosen on different surfaces according to a thermal budget for a given sensor housing assembly, due to the different types of sensors arranged along particular surfaces, or to provide color contrast for different regions of the assembly. For instance, differing colors such as black/white or blue/white, and different finishes such as matte or glossy, may be selected to enhance certain attributes or to minimize issues associated with a sensor housing assembly.

Abstract: A system and method for determining the operating conditions a machining operation includes a sensor array, a data acquisition system, and a computing device. The sensor array includes one or more sensors, such as a power, force, acoustic, fluid, or displacement sensor, configured to detect certain operational characteristics of the machining operating and machining tool. The sensor array is coupled to a computing device via a data acquisition system. The computing device runs software that outputs in human-readable format sensor data generated by the data acquisition system. The user can thereby detect anomalies in the machining operating, including errors or poor tolerances with the machining tool, such as a grinding of polishing wheel. The computing device can also send feedback signals to the machining tool to address detected anomalies. The computer software is configured to output up to eight (8) channels of data received from the sensor array.
