Abstract: A database system is operable to determine a plurality of queries for execution. Query data for each query of the plurality of queries is determined, where the query data for the each query indicates a memory usage estimate, an internal runtime estimate, and an external runtime estimate. Query initiation data is generated by determining whether to initiate execution of one query of the plurality of queries at a first temporal period occurring after initiating execution of a subset of the plurality of queries and occurs before the execution of the subset of the plurality of queries is complete, based on the query data of the one query. Execution of the one query is initiated when the query initiation data indicates a determination to initiate execution of the one query in the first temporal period.
Abstract: Systems and methods of making a cast steel alloy crankshaft for an internal combustion engine are provided. The method comprises providing a mold of the crankshaft. The mold has cavities to form the crankshaft. The method further comprises melting a first metallic material at between 1400 degrees Celsius (° C.) and 1600° C. to define a molten metallic material. In addition, the method further comprises feeding the molten metallic material at a riser connection angle of between 30° and 75° in the cavities of the negative sand cast mold. The method further comprises cooling the molten metallic material at a solidification time of between 5 seconds (sec) and 20 sec in the negative sand cast mold with at least one chill member to define a solidified metallic material having dimensions of the cast steel alloy crankshaft. Furthermore, the method comprises separating the solidified metallic material from the negative sand cast mold to define the cast steel alloy crankshaft.

Advantageously, the subject invention is useful against antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains, such as MRSA, Helicobacter pylori, S. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa and A. fumigatus.
Abstract: Calibrating an unstable sensor of a mobile device. Systems and methods for calibrating a sensor of a mobile device determine a first estimated position of the mobile device without using any measurement from the sensor of the mobile device, generate a second estimated position of the mobile device using a measurement from the sensor, estimate a sensor error of the sensor using the first estimated position and the second estimated position, and use the sensor error to determine a calibration value for adjusting one or more measurements from the sensor.

Abstract: Implementations relate to determination and visual display of spoken menus for calls. In some implementations, a computer-implemented method includes receiving audio data output in a call between a call device and a device associated with a target entity. The audio data includes speech indicating one or more selection options for a user of the call device to navigate through a call menu provided by the target entity in the call. Text is determined by programmatically analyzing the audio data, the text representing the speech. The selection options are determined based on programmatically analyzing at least one of the text or the audio data. At least a portion of the text is displayed by the call device during the call, as one or more visual options that correspond to the selection options. The visual options are each selectable via user input to cause corresponding navigation through the call menu.

Abstract: A flat field transistor (FFT) based dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) (FFT-DRAM) is disclosed. The FFT-DRAM comprises an epitaxially grown source region comprising a source extension and an epitaxial source over and in contact with the source extension. The epitaxially grown source region is over a surface of a semiconductor substrate. The FFT-DRAM further comprises a trench capacitor structurally integrated into the epitaxially grown source region. The trench capacitor has a first terminal formed by the epitaxially grown source region and a second terminal being a conductive material filling one or more trenches of the trench capacitor. The second terminal is connected to a ground terminal or a fixed voltage terminal.
Abstract: A modular transaction card assembly includes a card frame having the traditional dimensions of a credit card, and a transaction card that is smaller than a traditional card and that fits into a receptacle of the card frame. Each of the card frame and the transaction card may be capable of performing contactless data transactions individually. The combined assembly of the card frame with the transaction card secured in the receptacle is also capable of performing contact data transactions, and in some instances, with an identifier that is distinct from the card frame or the transaction card alone. The card frame may include a processor enabling it to perform data encryption and authentication of the smaller transaction card.

Abstract: The present invention provides an environmentally-friendly, fully recyclable composite mining screen which has sufficient rigidity to replace existing metal and metal covered plastic mining screens. The inventive composite screen insert contains stiff reinforcing fibers (glass, carbon, etc.) and exhibits the rigidity of metal and metal-covered plastic mining screen inserts so as to minimize deflection in use. The inventive mining screen is also completely recyclable because at the end of its useful life, the broken and used screen can be ground into polymer particles and the particles incorporated into new screens or other parts.
