Abstract: An example cloud computing burst management system includes a first cloud computing resource including a first processor and a first memory, a second cloud computing resource including a second processor and a second memory, and one or more data networks connecting the first cloud computing resource and the second cloud computing resource. The first cloud computing resource is configured to perform at least one cloud computing task, and to monitor one or more leading indicator parameters associated with operation of the first cloud computing resource while performing the at least one cloud computing task. In response to the one or more leading indicator parameters satisfying a first burst criteria, the first cloud computing resource is configured to provision a task instance on the second cloud computing resource for performing at least one portion of the cloud computing task.

Abstract: Provided are aspects relating to methods and computing devices for allocating computing resources and selecting hyperparameter configurations during continuous retraining and operation of a machine learning model. In one example, a computing device configured to be located at a network edge between a local network and a cloud service includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to operate a machine learning model. During a retraining window, a selected portion of a video stream is selected for labeling. At least a portion of a labeled retraining data set is selected for profiling a superset of hyperparameter configurations. For each configuration of the superset of hyperparameter configurations, a profiling test is performed. The profiling test is terminated, and a change in inference accuracy that resulted from the profiling test is extrapolated. Based upon the extrapolated inference accuracies, a set of selected hyperparameter configurations is output.

Abstract: A method of forming a wick assembly is disclosed including positioning an inner ring in a first wick, positioning the inner ring in a second wick, abutting an end of the first wick with an end of the second wick, positioning an outer ring about a portion of the first wick and a portion of the second wick, positioning a mandrel within the inner ring, positioning a die about the outer ring, and applying a force to the die, wherein the force couples the outer ring, the inner ring, the first wick, and the second wick together to form the wick assembly.

Abstract: A commercial vehicle includes at least one driven axle, a service brake, at least one propulsion engine, and wheels. A parking brake function of the vehicle is achieved by a bistable locking means that acts on both wheels. A first and second multi-speed gearbox having respective first and second gear stages are each activated by an actuator and coupled to the wheels. The parking brake function is achieved at least in-part by concurrently activating the first and second gear stages. A computing device is configured to activate the bistable locking means when the commercial vehicle is at a standstill and configured to send a brake request via an electronic signal to an electronic brake control unit to activate the service brake.

Abstract: The disclosure provides methods of manufacturing products comprising allulose produced by contacting a protein having allulose 3-epimerase activity with a fructose substrate under conditions such that the fructose substrate is converted into allulose. A first region is defined on a surface of the mirror platform. The first region is a media display device viewing area. A second region is defined on the surface of the mirror platform. The second region is a back lit area. A first material is selectively disposed onto a rear surface of the mirror platform outside of the first region and outside of the second region. The first material increases the reflectivity of the mirror platform outside of the first region and outside of the second region. When the mirror platform is viewed from a front side a reflectivity of a third region, which is outside of the first region and outside of the second region, is greater than a reflectivity of either the first region or the second region; and a reflectivity of the first region is different than a reflectivity of the second region.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are described for using thermal imaging to configure and/or augment temperature regulation operations within a property. In some implementations, a computing device obtains a thermal image of a region of a property. The thermal image identifies at least a surface within the region. A surface temperature of the surface is determined. An ambient temperature for the region is determined based at least on the surface temperature. The one or more temperature controls for the region are adjusted based at least on the ambient temperature.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a user input from a first user from a client system associated with the first user, determining one or more products of interest to the first user based on one or more machine-learning models and the user input, accessing social data associated with the one or more products of interest from a data store, wherein the social data comprises social signals or content objects associated with one or more second users, each second user being within a threshold degree of separation of the first user within a social graph, generating one or more social summaries associated with the one or more products of interest based on the accessed social data, and sending instructions for presenting the one or more social summaries of the one or more products of interest to the client system.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a thermal ablation probe device that integrates deployable sensors with a freezing probe or heating probe for use in ablating tissues. The ablation probe includes a longitudinal body including a thermal ablation energy source which may be, e.g., a cryosource or a heat source. The longitudinal body has a proximal end and a distal end terminating at a probe tip; and at least one deployable assembly disposed within the longitudinal body. The deployable assembly includes a flexible and substantially rigid deployment member, and at least one sensor affixed to a distal end of the deployment member. The ablation probe further includes a control mechanism for controlling deployment and retraction of the deployable assembly.

The processor(s) continually applies a recurrent neural network to the plurality of data sets to machine learn optimal features for classifying patients into multiple categories related to presence or progression of the medical condition. The processor(s) continually generates, based on the machine learned optimal set of features, intermediate features, based on the weightings of a portion of the machine learned optimal set of features, i.e., a model. The processor(s) evaluates the records and classifies records into the categories, based on a current model (model generated in real-time).

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for controlling a fuel delivery system to limit acidic corrosion. An exemplary control system includes a controller, at least one monitor, an output, and a remediation system. The monitor of the control system may collect and analyze data indicative of a corrosive environment in the fuel delivery system. The output of the control system may automatically warn an operator of the fueling station of the corrosive environment so that the operator can take preventative or corrective action. The remediation system of the control system may take at least one corrective action to remediate the corrosive environment in the fuel delivery system.

Abstract: A light source based on an optical frequency mixer is disclosed. The light source has a first laser for emitting light at a first optical frequency, and a plurality of second lasers for emitting light at different second optical frequencies. The optical frequency mixer provides output light beams at mixed optical frequencies of the first and second lasers. Wavelength of output light beams may be tuned by tuning wavelength of any of the first or second lasers. In this manner, RGB wavelength-tunable light sources may be constructed based on red or near-infrared lasers. The wavelength tunability of the output light beams may be used to angularly scan or refocus the light beams.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides for an interlocking cannula system that includes a handle and a set of cannulas. The set of cannulas includes a sequence of smaller to larger cannulas constructed such that the smaller cannulas may be nested within larger cannulas. Each cannula in the set of cannulas includes a respective locking mechanism configured such that each cannula may be interlocked with each of the other cannulas in the set. The handle is constructed such that each cannula in the set may interlock with the handle by the respective locking mechanism of the cannula. In some instances, the respective locking mechanisms are constructed to enable an ordered release of the cannulas.

Internet traffic may be routed via the selected alternative internet connection until the primary internet connection is reestablished or improves.
