Abstract: An apparatus configured to provide portioned instances of a compressible material includes a channel assembly, a gas source, a cutting assembly, and a discharge assembly. The channel assembly holds a bulk instance of the material extending through upper and lower channels of a continuous channel. The gas source supplies gas to compress the bulk instance. The cutting assembly moves in relation to the channel assembly to isolate the upper and lower channels, severing upper and lower material portions of the bulk instance. The discharge assembly directs gas to impinge on a lower face of the cutting assembly to discharge the lower material portion as a portioned instance. The channel assembly may be moveable, where operation of the gas source, cutting assembly, and/or discharge assembly are based on moving the channel assembly between various positions. The gas supply may be controlled based on a determined property of the portioned instance.

Abstract: A roller detection system has been developed in which a controller card is configured to automatically detect the type of motorized drive roller being used in the conveyor system. With this automatic detection capability, the controller card is able to automatically control the motorized drive roller without the need for manual reprogramming or reconfiguration. For instance, the controller card can detect whether the motorized drive roller is controlled through an analog or digital signal as well as the voltage required to control or power the motorized drive roller, and based on this roller type detection, the controller card is automatically configured to control the motorized drive roller. The system is further adapted to facilitate a sensor-less or photoeye-less zero pressure (ZP) conveyor system. The controller card is configured to support a secondary power source that allows the motorized drive roller settings during e-stop and other power loss conditions.

Abstract: Techniques and solutions are described for encoding digital video files, such as for streaming applications. Data associated with the digital video file forms a dataset that can be characterized by a measure of the dataset's center, such as an average, and a spread of the dataset, such as a deviation, with respective to a bitrate over a duration of the digital video file. The measure of center and spread are used to calculate a deviation-adjusted bitrate. A deviation adjusted bitrate can be calculated for the entire digital video file, or for particular subsets of the digital video file, such as for segments of a duration forming units of video streaming Disclosed techniques can provide various advantages, including using a reduced bitrate for video or video portions as compared with an average or static bitrate, for lower-complexity video, or using a higher bitrate for video or video portions for higher-complexity video.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a central management plane (CMP) of one or more processors for regulating streams of data from each of a number of network nodes of a distributed network. The one or more processors can train and deploy machine learning models across the network nodes, and the CMP can generate policies for each network node. The generated policies specify how a network node is to transmit data to the platform for further training or retraining of the deployed machine learning models. The CMP generates the policies using metric data characterizing each network node and respective streams of input data, and are generated based on a number of objectives, including model output quality of the deployed models, and operational cost to transmit and process streams of data across the distributed network.
