Abstract: A device may include a rectifier circuit providing a rectified DC signal, a rechargeable energy-storage element, and a power-management integrated circuit (PMIC). The PMIC may include a charging circuit for the rechargeable energy-storage element; a current-sensing circuit that measures a current provided by the rectified DC signal; a programmable current limit; a voltage-sensing circuit that measures a voltage on the rechargeable energy-storage element; and a controller that regulates the current provided to a DC output of the PMIC. the DC output of the PMIC may be regulated based at least in part on the current provided by the rectified DC signal; the programmable current limit; and the voltage on the rechargeable energy-storage element. The DC output of the PMIC may provide energy to a plurality of other energy-consuming subsystems on the device and to the charging circuit for the rechargeable energy-storage element.

Abstract: A light detection and ranging device associated with an autonomous vehicle scans through a scanning zone while emitting light pulses and receives reflected signals corresponding to the light pulses. The reflected signals indicate a three-dimensional point map of the distribution of reflective points in the scanning zone. A hyperspectral sensor images a region of the scanning zone corresponding to a reflective feature indicated by the three-dimensional point map. The output from the hyperspectral sensor includes spectral information characterizing a spectral distribution of radiation received from the reflective feature. The spectral characteristics of the reflective feature allow for distinguishing solid objects from non-solid reflective features, and a map of solid objects is provided to inform real time navigation decisions.

Abstract: A data storage system can have one or more hosts connected to a data storage subsystem with the host having a host processor and the data storage subsystem having a controller. Write back data generated at the host triggers the host processor to allocate a cache location in the data storage subsystem where the generated data is subsequently stored. The generated write back data is written in a non-volatile destination address as directed by the controller prior to waiting for a secondary event with the generated data stored in both the cache location and the non-volatile destination address. Detection of the secondary event prompts the controller to signal the host processor that the cache location is free for new data.

Abstract: A method for migrating a data schema comprising combining a first deterministic finite automaton with a second deterministic finite automaton to generate a modified deterministic finite automation. Identifying a state of the modified deterministic finite automaton without computed followers. Computing a new vector of original states for each state of the modified deterministic finite automaton corresponding to the identified state.
Abstract: Content items are provided to users and their interactions with the provided content items are recorded in respective user profiles. The users' interactions thus recorded over time are analyzed to determine if the users have a balanced information intake. A reading habit score is determined for a user based various criteria. The user's reading habit score is analyzed to determine if the user's habits indicate a balance in the user's content consumption. If the user's reading habit score indicates an imbalance in the user's content consumption, suggestions are provided to the user for achieving a more balanced reading habit and thereby improving the user's reading habit score.

Abstract: This document generally describes systems and methods for dynamically adapting speech recognition for individual voice queries of a user using class-based language models. The method may include receiving a voice query from a user that includes audio data corresponding to an utterance of the user, and context data associated with the user. One or more class models are then generated that collectively identify a first set of terms determined based on the context data, and a respective class to which the respective term is assigned for each respective term in the first set of terms. A language model that includes a residual unigram may then be accessed and processed for each respective class to insert a respective class symbol at each instance of the residual unigram that occurs within the language model. A transcription of the utterance of the user is then generated using the modified language model.
Abstract: A method for controlling an autonomous vehicle is provided. While the vehicle is at a commanded destination the method may be responsive to an absence of an ingress/egress of a passenger for a predetermined period. The predetermined period may depend on whether the vehicle is in arrival mode or departure mode. The method may include commanding the vehicle to travel to a predetermined location selected to have measures of cellular-wireless signal strength that are greater than a predetermined threshold.
Abstract: Systems and methods for admitting new nodes into an existing network, for example a MoCA network. As a non-limiting example, various aspects of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for adding a new node to an existing network without requiring on-site manual configuration, for example utilizing communication between the new node and a network coordinator of the existing network prior to admission of the new node to the existing network. The network coordinator is able to determine that sufficient bandwidth is available for the new node to transmit a pre-admission discovery request message that comprises a management entity request network information element (MERNIE).
Abstract: Methods for designing a mode-selective optical device including one or more optical interfaces defining an optical cavity include: defining a loss function within a simulation space encompassing the optical device, the loss function corresponding to an electromagnetic field having an operative wavelength within the optical device resulting from an interaction between an input electromagnetic field at the operative wavelength and the one or more optical interfaces of the optical device; defining an initial structure for each of the one or more optical interfaces, each initial structure being defined using a plurality of voxels; determining values for at least one structural parameter and/or at least one functional parameter of the one or more optical interfaces by solving Maxwell's equations; and defining a final structure of the one or more optical interfaces based on the values for the one or more structural and/or functional parameters.

The method also includes enabling, by the first site of the volume, bidirectional write input/output (I/O) mirroring with a second site of the volume. The method further includes, by the second site of the volume, creating a remote copy of the volume, the remote copy of the volume configured to be passive, and enabling bidirectional write I/O mirroring with the first site of the volume.
Abstract: An embodiment of an electronic access control system includes an electronic access apparatus, an electronic lock, and an access control administration program. The electronic access apparatus provides a wireless power signal and a wireless digital data signal to the electronic lock. The wireless power signal can be the only source of power used by the electronic lock to actuate an electronic lock mechanism. In some embodiments, the lock mechanism includes a piezoelectric latch.
Abstract: This document describes methods and systems for user equipment (UE) context transfer over radio access network (RAN) paging. A first base station receives from a second base station a first message that includes a context that is associated with a user equipment while the user equipment was in an engaged mode with the second base station. The first base station transmits a second message that is a paging message to the user equipment and in response receives, from the user equipment, a third message that includes a resume message authentication code identifier. After the first base station verifies the third message using the resume message authentication code identifier, the first base station transmits, to the user equipment, a fourth message that enables the user equipment to resume the engaged mode with the first base station in accordance with the context.
Abstract: Multidimensional data analysis applications, including OLAP applications, simultaneously aggregate across many sets of dimensions. However, computing multidimensional aggregates is a performance bottleneck for OLAP data analysis applications. In order to improve the speed of interactive analysis, OLAP databases often precompute aggregates at various levels of detail and on various combinations of data attributes. However, the cost and speed of precomputation influences how frequently the aggregates can be brought up-to-date. Systems and methods disclosed herein provide graph based multidimensional analysis processing without pre-aggregating or precomputing the data along dimensional hierarchies, and by providing the results to the end user on-demand. Since preaggregation or precomputation of data along dimensional hierarchies is not necessary, implementations allow the end user to perform data analysis as soon as the data is available.

Abstract: Trash container assembly has interior container wall structure with upper edge structure, a bottom, and an upper opening and interior and exterior surfaces. The assembly has an exterior container with front, rear and side walls connected to a collapsible bottom, with the side walls connected to the front and rear walls so that the walls fold inwardly with the side walls positioned between the front and rear walls, and the bottom collapsed within the walls. In the open position the exterior container walls upper opening receives the interior container. When interior container is inserted with the exterior container, a retention member associated with the exterior container wall structure engages the interior container to resist it moving away from the exterior container. Structural supports are between side walls layers with a fold line located in between, and between front and rear wall layers, and above the bottom.
