Abstract: Some variations provide a system for producing a functionalized powder, comprising: an agitated pressure vessel; first particles and second particles contained within the agitated pressure vessel; a fluid contained within the agitated pressure vessel; an exhaust line for releasing the fluid from the agitated pressure vessel; and a means for recovering a functionalized powder containing the second particles disposed onto surfaces of the first particles. A preferred fluid is carbon dioxide in liquefied or supercritical form. The carbon dioxide may be initially loaded into the pressure vessel as solid carbon dioxide. The pressure vessel may be batch or continuous and is operated under reaction conditions to functionalize the first particles with the second particles, thereby producing a functionalized powder, such as nanofunctionalized metal particles in which nanoparticles act as grain refiners for a component ultimately produced from the nanofunctionalized metal particles.

Abstract: Sewing machine ankle assemblies having a resilient member for attaching a presser foot are disclosed. According to an aspect, a sewing machine ankle assembly includes an ankle comprising an upper portion and a lower portion. The lower portion defines at least one structure configured to receive an attachment mechanism of the presser foot. The sewing machine ankle assembly also includes a resilient member comprising an upper end and an opposing lower end. The upper end is attached to the upper portion of the ankle. The lower end is positioned beneath a portion of the attachment mechanism of the presser foot when the attachment mechanism is received by the at least one structure of the ankle such that the lower portion of the resilient member exerts a force on the portion of the attachment mechanism in a direction towards the at least one structure of the ankle.
Abstract: A vehicle seat includes a seat base and a seat back connected to the seat base. The seat back includes a first side bolster including a first lateral surface and a second side bolster having a second lateral surface. An item restraint system including a selectively deployable restraint element is mounted adjacent to the first lateral surface and a selectively positionable hook is mounted to the second lateral surface.
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to encrypt media for identification. An example apparatus accesses a mesh points matrix. Additionally, the example apparatus sets an upper limit equal to a larger of two values of a vector, respective ones of the two values equal to elements of the vector at indices equal to respective values of a coordinate pair of the mesh points matrix and set a lower limit equal to a smaller of the two values of the vector. The example apparatus also appends a value to an encryption vector, the value based on whether the lower limit is equal to zero, the value equal to a lowest integer not less than a quotient of a number based on a square of the upper limit and two and encrypt an input matrix with the encryption vector.
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating electricity from a fluid turbine are provided. In one aspect, the system employs a Tesla turbine to rotate a drive shaft, the drive shaft providing torque to operate an electrical generator. The incoming fluid flow that operates the Tesla turbine enters a hollow portion of the drive shaft and exists the system as an exhaust flow. The system may operate from standard water supplies provided to a residence or business, thereby reclaiming excess water pressure energy.
Abstract: A stoma covering device according to various aspects of the present technology may comprise an open ended body having an internal receiving area configured to receive and be positioned over the stoma to temporarily cover the stoma during the changing process of an ostomy device or wafer. The open ended body may be configured to be held in place in a hands-free manner and without the aid of adhesives, straps, or other mechanical devices. A resilient body may be attached to the open ended body and be used to create a low pressure region within the internal receiving area prior to the stoma covering device being positioned over the stoma.
Abstract: A system for transportation includes a vehicle, a rider occupying the vehicle, and a hybrid neural network. The hybrid neural network includes a first neural network to process a sensor input corresponding to the rider to determine an emotional state of the rider, and a second neural network to optimize at least one operating parameter of the vehicle to improve the emotional state of the rider.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a heatshield that can be actively cooled during a rework process. The heatshield may include a backer plate and a metal plate. A plurality of vents may extend from air inlet ducts to a top surface of the backer plate such that the plurality of vents directs cooling gas forced into the heatshield towards the metal plate and a first ball grid array (BGA) package. The cooling gas may maintain the solder joint temperature of the first BGA package below a reflow temperature and below a solidus temperature to prevent reflow-related solder joint defects from occurring in the first BGA package during rework of a second BGA package.
Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods of rendering content based on a control point of a camera device are disclosed. In an example, a marker is attached to the camera device and its pose is tracked over time. Based on a camera model of the camera device, an offset between the marker and the control point is determined. The tracked pose of the marker can be translated and/or rotated according to the offset to estimate a pose of the control point. The rendering of the content is adjusted over time based on the estimated poses of the control point. Upon presentation of the content in a real-world space (e.g., on a display assembly located therein), the camera device can capture the content along with other objects of the real-world space and generate a video stream thereof.
