Abstract: A ball joint includes a cover plate with a nested portion along an outer perimeter having a nested portion thickness, a domed portion located radially inward of the outer perimeter having a domed portion thickness, and a pressed portion located between the nested portion and the domed portion having a pressed portion thickness. The pressed portion thickness is less than the domed portion thickness, which during manufacture, is formed when the cover plate and bearing are simultaneously pressed into their final form and position. A tool can be used to press the cover plate and bearing in a single operation. The tool can have interchangeable components, allowing for the manufacture of differently sized ball joints.

Abstract: A semiconductor device has a first semiconductor die and second semiconductor die with a conductive layer formed over the first semiconductor die and second semiconductor die. The second semiconductor die is disposed adjacent to the first semiconductor die with a side surface and the conductive layer of the first semiconductor die contacting a side surface and the conductive layer of the second semiconductor die. An interconnect, such as a conductive material, is formed across a junction between the conductive layers of the first and second semiconductor die. The conductive layer may extend down the side surface of the first semiconductor die and further down the side surface of the second semiconductor die. An extension of the side surface of the first semiconductor die can interlock with a recess of the side surface of the second semiconductor die. The conductive layer extends over the extension and into the recess.
Abstract: Tires and tire components are provided having improved fire properties, as well as the vulcanizable compositions for making the tires and tire components. A vulcanizable composition is provided that includes at least one vulcanizable polymer, a curative, a halogenated hydrocarbon, and expandable graphite. The tires and tire components have improved properties including one or more of improved flame retardancy, reduced smoke density and/or toxicity, and reduced heat release.
Abstract: A facility providing systems and methods for managing and optimizing energy consumption and/or production is provided. The facility provides techniques for optimizing energy-consuming and energy-producing systems to meet specified demands or goals in accordance with various constraints. The facility relies on models to generate an optimization for an energy system. In order to use generic models to simulate and optimize energy consumption for an energy system, the generic models are calibrated to properly represent or approximate conditions of the energy system during the optimization period. After the appropriate models have been calibrated for a given situation using one or more modeling parameter sets, the facility can simulate inputs and responses for the corresponding system. The facility uses the generated simulations to generate a plan or control schedule to be implemented by the energy system during the optimization period.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for speech endpointing are described. In one aspect, a method includes the action of accessing voice query log data that includes voice queries spoken by a particular user. The actions further include based on the voice query log data that includes voice queries spoken by a particular user, determining a pause threshold from the voice query log data that includes voice queries spoken by the particular user. The actions further include receiving, from the particular user, an utterance. The actions further include determining that the particular user has stopped speaking for at least a period of time equal to the pause threshold. The actions further include based on determining that the particular user has stopped speaking for at least a period of time equal to the pause threshold, processing the utterance as a voice query.

Abstract: A process for increase conversion and yield and selectivity to normal paraffins by reducing the hydrogen to hydrocarbon ratio for paraffin feeds with substantial butanes. The process works best with a low concentration of heavies and cyclics in the isomerization feed. High normal ratios of equilibrium, isobutane conversion, normal paraffins yield and selectivities are achieved for naphtha feed at low ratios of hydrogen to hydrocarbons.

Abstract: Transportable storage devices are communicatively coupled behind one or more dedicated “edge” data servers to take advantage of the benefits of the data servers and transportable storage devices while limiting their disadvantages. Each edge data server ingests data from one or more client devices and copies the data to one or more of the transportable storage devices for eventual transport to a cloud data center for upload to a cloud storage system. Multiple versions of a segment of data (e.g., of a file or a blob) are maintained at various points in the disclosed system and the disclosed technology ensures that the most recent version is the version ultimately stored on the cloud storage system.

Abstract: A wireless camera network is disclosed. The wireless camera network includes a first camera and one or more other cameras. After an input is received by the first camera, the first camera records images or video, and the first camera wirelessly transmits a start signal to one or more other cameras to also start recording images or video and to also wirelessly transmit the start signal.
Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may perform, for example, a method that determines at least one threshold for detecting signal interference in a first plurality of segments occurring in a first radio frequency spectrum of a first wireless communication system, detecting a pattern of recurrence over time of signal interference in a segment of the first plurality of resource blocks according to the at least one threshold, and performing one or more mitigation steps to mitigate the signal interference without filtering the signal interference where the one or more mitigation steps include at least one of transmitting signals out of phase from the signal interference, adjusting transmit power, increasing power in a resource block of a long term evolution communication session, performing beam steering, or changing time parameters for the resource block without changing to a new resource block. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract: A technique for scheduling access to a resource arranges tasks into multiple classes, where each class has a respective share and a respective priority. The share of a class sets an amount of access allocated to the class, and the priority sets an order in which the class can use its share, with higher priority classes getting access before lower-priority classes. The technique assigns latency-critical tasks, such as synchronous I/O tasks, to a first class having the highest priority and assigns bandwidth-critical tasks, such as background I/O processing, to a second class having a lower priority.
Abstract: A heat-assisted magnetic recording head includes a waveguide and a near-field transducer. The near-field transducer includes a plasmonic disk disposed proximal to the waveguide. The plasmonic disk includes a first plasmonic layer, a second plasmonic layer, and a middle layer. The first plasmonic layer is coupled to the waveguide. The second plasmonic layer is disposed distal to the waveguide relative to the first plasmonic layer. The middle layer is disposed between the first plasmonic layer and the second plasmonic layer.
Abstract: Systems and methods for recording a meeting using a retroactive record feature. The present technology provides for improved systems and methods for providing a recording of a virtual meeting, where a selection to initiate the recording from the beginning or an earlier time in the meeting from a current time may be received after the virtual meeting has started. The system may process received meeting content streams to generate a plurality of data segments that may collectively form a meeting recording. Each data segment, for example, may include meeting content associated with a particular user/attendee and associated with a timestamp and/or time duration. In some examples, the plurality of data segments may be stored on a blockchain, which may provide an immutable meeting record that may be concatenated together and made available for playback based on a selection to record the meeting and consent given by the users/attendees.
Abstract: A liquid distribution assembly includes a plate to collect liquid and a plurality of liquid distributors coupled to the plate. Each liquid distributor of the plurality of liquid distributors includes a conduit extending down from the plate. Liquid is to flow internal to the conduit from the plate. Each liquid distributor also includes a dome coupled to the conduit at an end of the conduit distal from the plate. The conduit defines openings disposed where the dome is coupled to the conduit permitting the liquid to flow from the conduit to the dome. The liquid is to flow over an edge of the dome.
Abstract: A display device includes a directional illuminator providing a light beam, a display panel downstream of a directional illuminator, for receiving and spatially modulating the light beam, and a beam redirecting module downstream of the display panel, for variably redirecting the spatially modulated light beam. Steering the illuminating light by the beam redirecting module enables one to steer the exit pupil of the display device to match the user's eye location(s).
