Abstract: Per-segment parameters for content delivery are described herein. A manifest file for a segment and a parameter file for the segment may be sent to a user device. The parameter file may indicate one or more time ranges each corresponding to a parameter value. Requests for content segments based on the manifest file and the parameter file may be received. The user device may access the parameter file to determine a time range of the one or more time ranges into which a start time of a particular segment falls. The user device may determine a parameter value as corresponding to the determined time range. The user device may then generate a request to include the determined parameter value.

Abstract: Techniques are described for optimizing deep learning model performance using image harmonization as a pre-processing step. According to an embodiment, a method comprises decomposing, by a system operatively coupled to a processor, an input image into sub-images. The method further comprises harmonizing the sub-images with corresponding reference sub-images of at least one reference image based on two or more different statistical values respectively calculated for the sub-images and the corresponding reference-sub images, resulting in transformation of the sub-images into modified sub-images images. In some implementations, the modified sub-images can be combined into a harmonized image having a more similar appearance to the at least one reference image relative to the input image.

Abstract: An illumination system can produce a dynamically variable illumination pattern. The illumination system can include a light guide. The illumination system can include projection optics, which can contribute to the illumination pattern at relatively low beam angles (i.e., beam angles formed with respect to a surface normal of the light guide). The projection optics can include individually addressable light-producing elements that can direct light through one or more focusing elements. A controller can control which of the light-producing elements are electrically powered and can therefore control the illumination pattern contribution from the projection optics. The illumination system can also include scattering optics, which can contribute to the illumination pattern at relatively high beam angles. The scattering optics can direct light out of the light guide over a relatively large surface area, which can help reduce glare when the light guide is viewed directly.

Abstract: Techniques and tools are described for decoding jointly coded information. For example, a decoder decodes a variable length code [“VLC”] signaled at macroblock level that jointly represents a transform type signal level, transform type, and subblock pattern. The decoder decodes one or more VLCs signaled at block level, each jointly representing a transform type and subblock pattern. The decoder may select between multiple VLC tables for the VLCs signaled macroblock level and/or block level.

Abstract: A workpiece accumulator system for a stamping machine includes linear actuators, nesting blocks, exit rails, and a first controller. The nesting blocks are disposed on moveable members of the linear actuators and arranged to vertically stack workpieces being fabricated by the stamping machine. The first controller communicates with a second controller that controls the stamping machine. The first controller controls the linear positions of the linear actuators to retract the nesting blocks from an initial position to accommodate placement of the one of the plurality of workpieces in a stack on the nesting blocks. The linear actuators are controlled to retract the nesting blocks to fully retracted positions to place the plurality of workpieces in the stack onto the exit rails when a quantity of the plurality of workpieces in the stack is equal to a desired quantity.

In example embodiments, the supply unit may include a plurality of compartments and each compartment may have a moving device configured to move contents of the compartment from a first end of the compartment to a second end of the compartment. In example embodiments the first transfer unit may include a second moving device. In example embodiments, the second transfer unit may include a third moving device. In example embodiments the first transfer unit may be configured to receive contents from each compartment of the supply unit and move the contents to the second transfer unit, and the third moving device may be configured to move the contents to the gas chamber.

Abstract: A method and system for concrete monitoring calibration using truck-mounted mixer drum jump speed data selectively assimilated from previous deliveries. The method involves measuring energy at a first drum speed and a second drum speed. Slump is calculated using low speed energy/speed/slump curve data, or pre-stored equation wherein slump is derived as a function of slope of the line. The energy, speed, slump relationship in the provided concrete is compared to at least two pre-stored data curves across drum speed ranges of 15 0.5 RPM-6 RPM and 6 RPM-20 RPM, to ascertain whether the provided concrete matches any of the stored curve data; either activating the monitoring system for all drum speed ranges where a match is confirmed or allowing the monitoring system to calculate slump only at low drum speeds.

Abstract: A reversible harness for an animal having a neck region and a waist region. The harness includes a chest piece, and a back piece having a back-side tethering strap. A leash connector is rotatably disposed on the tethering strap. The reversible harness further includes a first adjustable strap to secure the chest piece to the back piece about the neck region of the animal, and a second adjustable strap to secure the chest piece to the back piece about the waist region of the animal. The harness is adapted to fit a wide variety of sizes of animals. In addition, the messaging server transmits instructions to the second endpoint causing the second endpoint to transmit packets through a plurality of ports of the second router to a corresponding plurality of ports of the first router. A P2P connection is established between the first and second endpoints in response to a first port of the plurality of ports of the first router receiving a data packet from the designated port of the second router. The video chat is seamlessly transferred from the connection established through the messaging server to the established P2P connection.

Abstract: Described is a system for managing the expiration of objects storing incremental backup data by leveraging specialized metadata. The system may provide a layer of intelligence when freeing up storage space on an object storage to ensure that a full recovery of client backup data may be performed when storing incremental backup data. The system may maintain metadata indicating the latest and/or earliest backups that reference particular objects. The system may then leverage this information to mark particular objects for removal (e.g. deletion or re-tiering). For example, the system may access the metadata to identify which objects stored by a previous (e.g. expired) backup are still referenced by a subsequent (e.g. non-expired) backup. As a result, the system may ensure that objects are not removed prematurely and that a full recovery of the client data to a point-in-time of any incremental backup may be performed.

Abstract: A lighting management system includes communications circuitry, processing circuitry, and a memory. The memory stores instructions, which, when executed by the processing circuitry cause the lighting management system to receive a message from a lighting fixture via the communications circuitry, the message indicating a proximal presence of a detected mobile device to the lighting fixture, and performing one or more actions in response to receipt of the message. By performing the one or more actions upon receipt of the message as described above, a lighting system may be provided with additional functionality that enhances the lighting system.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described herein for the direct sharing and use of transaction data separately from transaction authorization processes. Transaction metadata associated with a transaction may be received and validated. Authorization information corresponding to the transaction may be received. The degree to which the transaction metadata is tested may be based on a predicted time of receipt of the authorization information. The transaction metadata and authorization information may be correlated. A computing device may determine whether to authorize the financial transaction based on the authorization information and the correlated transaction metadata. All or portions of the transaction metadata may be provided to one or more users after the transaction has been authorized or denied.

Abstract: One example method includes optimizing client-side deduplication. When backing up a client, a cadence and a change log resolution are determined. These values are evaluated alone or in combination with respect to various thresholds. Client-side deduplication is enabled or disabled based on whether any one or more of the thresholds are satisfied.

Abstract: Non-limiting examples of the present disclosure relate to generation and implementation of a new security protocol that is used to secure common data access transactions across distributed network examples. An exemplary proof of verification protocol is disclosed that implements consensus security mechanisms across a plurality of distributed nodes, which may be utilized to validate owners of data in common data access transactions. Extending principles of blockchain security to common data access transactions and Internet of Things (IoT) networking requires a solution that: improves speed in transactional processing; reduces computational complexity; and presents efficient, secure and repeatable validation for owners of data in distributed networking environments. An exemplary proof of verification protocol provides such technical advantages by validating both user-specific data for a subscriber of an application/service and session data for user activity (past and present) within the application/service.
