Abstract: An application control system and method is adapted for use with an entertainment system of a type including a display such as a monitor or TV and having display functions. A control device may be conveniently held by a user and employs an imager. The control system and method images the screen of the TV or other display to detect distinctive markers displayed on the screen. This information is transmitted to the entertainment system for control of an application or is used by the control device to control an application.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method receives a history of videos that were viewed on a video delivery system as a first sentence in a sequential order and a target video as a second sentence as input to a prediction network. The prediction network analyzes representations for the history of videos and a representation of the target video. The prediction network generates a session representation based on bidirectionally analyzing a sequence of the first representations and the second representation. The method uses the session representation to determine whether to recommend the target video.

Abstract: A method for producing a microporous material comprising the steps of: providing an ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE); providing a filler; providing a processing plasticizer; adding the filler to the UHMWPE in a mixture being in the range of from about 1:9 to about 15:1 filler to UHMWPE by weight; adding the processing plasticizer to the mixture; extruding the mixture to form a sheet from the mixture; calendering the sheet; extracting the processing plasticizer from the sheet to produce a matrix comprising UHMWPE and the filler distributed throughout the matrix; stretching the microporous material in at least one direction to a stretch ratio of at least about 1.5 to produce a stretched microporous matrix; and subsequently calendering the stretched microporous matrix to produce a microporous material which exhibits improved physical and dimensional stability properties over the stretched microporous matrix.

Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) anomaly monitoring in a storage system. The AI anomaly monitoring may include writing commands into a log jointly with the execution of the commands on storage media of a drive. The log includes information regarding the operation of the drive including, at least, the commands. In turn, each drive in the storage system may include an AI processor core that may access the log and apply an AI analysis to the log to monitor for an anomaly regarding the operation of the drive. As each drive in the storage system may use the AI process core to detect anomalies locally to the drive, the computational and network resources needed to employ the AI monitoring may be reduced.

Abstract: Techniques for pillar location for a mobile device are described, and may be implemented via a mobile device to identify frequently visited locations and to perform different tasks for the mobile device at the frequented locations. Generally, the described techniques enable a mobile device to generate precise representations of frequented locations known as “pillar locations” without relying on conventional location determination techniques. Further, specific actions can be performed when the mobile device is detected at a pillar location, such as automatically unlocking the mobile device from a locked state.

Abstract: A system for providing an actuated-wall visual effect in an amusement park environment, the system comprising a panel mounting frame and a panel coupled to the panel mounting frame via a damper. The system also comprises a transducer mounting frame and a transducer configured to convert an audio signal into mechanical energy. The transducer comprises a first portion coupled to the transducer frame and a second portion coupled to the panel such that the transducer is configured to oscillate the panel relative to the transducer mounting frame in response to receiving the audio signal.

Abstract: An apparatus 10 for removing the skin of poultry pieces includes a frame 12 for supporting an infeed conveyor 14 for transporting and feeding poultry pieces to be skinned to a skinning station 16 located closely adjacent the downstream end of the conveyor. An outfeed conveyor 18 is also supported by the frame to carry the skinned poultry pieces away from the skinning station 16 for further processing. The infeed and outfeed conveyors are carried by a lift mounting systems 40 and 42 to mount the conveyors to the underlying frame 12. The lift mounting systems 40/42 function to shift the infeed and outfeed conveyors between an in-use lowered position closely adjacent the skinning station 16 and a retracted position raised above and shifted longitudinally away from the skinning station to provide access to the conveyors 14/18, as well as access to the skinning station 16.

Abstract: A method for operating non-volatile storage disclosed herein. The method comprises performing an operation on a set of non-volatile storage elements. The operation on the set of non-volatile storage elements includes providing temperature compensation based on an operation temperature of the set of non-volatile storage elements. The providing temperature compensation includes determining if the operation temperature is outside a temperature range where constant compensation is valid and applying the temperature compensation based on the determination.

Abstract: Described are a test device, a multi-specimen test fixture star and a multi-specimen test fixture. The test device includes a bath chamber that is automatically replenished with bath liquid throughout an extended test period. The multi-specimen test fixture star is non-circularly symmetric and can be used, for example, in a rectangular bath chamber to hold a greater number of test specimens than a circularly symmetric test fixture star. The multi-specimen test fixture includes, in part, a multi-specimen test fixture star and a shaft having one or more keyways and enables the test fixture star to be repositioned along the shaft without loss of rotational alignment to the shaft.

Abstract: A fluid thermal conditioning (heating/cooling) system including a housing containing a fluid holding tank and having an inlet pipe and an outlet pipe. A drive shaft rotatably supports either of a conductive plate or a plurality of spaced apart magnetic or electromagnetic plates positioned within the housing. The conductive plate can be reconfigured as an elongated conductive component supported within the housing and including a plurality of individual plates which alternate in arrangement with axially spaced and radially supported magnetic/electromagnetic plates. Upon rotation of the shaft, an oscillating magnetic field is generated for thermally conditioning the fluid.

Abstract: Systems and methods for removeably adding a cargo bay floor to the interior cargo bay of cargo aircraft bay are disclosed. The system includes a rail disposed in a cargo bay of a cargo aircraft with the rail extending longitudinally along both a length of a forward portion and an aft portion of the fuselage. The system includes a cargo floor segment configured to be removeably attached to the rail. When attached, the cargo floor segment can transform between a first arrangement with the cargo floor segment translatable along the rail, and a second arrangement with the cargo floor segment fixedly secured to a location along the rail. The cargo floor segment is configured to, when secured to the rail, define a section of a floor of the cargo bay of the cargo aircraft. Multiple floor segments can be used together to form a continuous floor for the aircraft.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods useful in capture of one more moieties (e.g., carbon dioxide) from a gas stream (i.e., direct air capture). In various embodiments, the systems and methods can utilize at least a scrubbing unit, a regeneration unit, and an electrolysis unit whereby an alkali solution can be used to strip the moiety (e.g., carbon dioxide) from the gas stream, the removed moiety can be regenerated and optionally purified for capture or other use, and a formed salt can be subjected to electrolysis to recycle the alkali solution back to the scrubber for re-use with simultaneous production of one or more further chemicals.
