Abstract: A wireless device may receive first configuration parameters, of a first uplink carrier and a second uplink carrier of a first cell, and may receive second configuration parameters, of a third uplink carrier and a fourth uplink carrier of a second cell. The second uplink carrier may be a licensed carrier, and the fourth uplink carrier may be an unlicensed carrier. The wireless device may receive a first downlink control information (DCI) indicating switching from the first uplink carrier to the second uplink carrier and a second DCI indicating switching from the third uplink carrier to the fourth uplink carrier. The wireless device may determine whether to transmit a confirmation for uplink carrier switching based on the uplink carrier switching being to the licensed carrier or the unlicensed carrier. Based the determining, the wireless device may, or may not, transmit the confirmation.

Abstract: A decoder may receive, from a bitstream for a block, a residual block of samples, a first component, and a second component. The decoder may determine reference samples for intra prediction of the block. The decoder may generate a prediction of the block from the reference samples based on a ratio of the first component to the second component. The ratio determines a prediction angle. The decoder may generate a decoded block from the prediction of the block and the residual block.

Abstract: A method is provided for controlling the operation of an offset well located near an active well that is undergoing a hydraulic fracturing operation that may produce a fracture driven interference (FDI) event to the offset well. The method includes providing an FDI intervention system that includes a computer-implemented predictive model for determining a risk of the FDI event occurring during the hydraulic fracturing operation, calculating a risk-weighted FDI event cost of the FDI event impacting production from the offset well, and calculating a defensive intervention implementation cost to apply a defensive intervention on the offset well to mitigate harm from an FDI event. The method includes calculating a cost comparison based on a comparison of the defensive intervention implementation cost and the risk-weighted FDI event cost. The method concludes with automatically controlling the operation of the offset well with the FDI intervention system based on the cost comparison.

Abstract: Techniques are described to automate deployment of an application as a cloud computing service. Such deployment may be accomplished on any underlying host infrastructure. As mentioned above, a typical application may engage in a number of build and deployment processes in order to run on a host computer with an infrastructure type. The techniques described herein may leverage an artificial intelligence computation library to identify which build and deployment processes are required by the application. Once identified, the user may select a host infrastructure type and create a container package with a runtime machine and components configure to run these build and deployment processes for that host infrastructure type. The container package may be used to generate an image from which the host computer can run the application as the cloud computing service. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Example embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to systems and methods for preventing vehicle mishaps. In an example method, a vehicle receives an alert signal from a personal transportation device. A driver of the vehicle may be made aware of the alert by a sound that is produced through a speaker system of the vehicle (for example, a ringing sound produced by a bicycle bell or a beep of a motorcycle horn). In some cases, an intensity and/or a directionality of the sound produced through the speaker system may provide location and/or distance information of the personal transportation device with respect to the vehicle. The vehicle may transmit an acknowledge signal to the personal transportation device. A rider of the personal transportation device may be informed of the acknowledgement via an audio announcement through a speaker mounted on the personal transportation device.

Abstract: A system and a method for obfuscating a mobile device's location are provided. For privacy or security reasons, the user of a mobile device may desire to prevent the mobile device from reporting the mobile device's true location. To prevent a mobile device from determining its location accurately, an RF enclosure encapsulates the mobile device and prevents the mobile device from receiving RF signals from sources outside of the enclosure. Within the enclosure, antenna modules broadcast RF signals, such as cellular-network signals, Wi-Fi signals, Bluetooth signals, or GPS signals, that contain information associated with a user-selected target location. The mobile device receives the RF signals from the antenna modules and determines that it is located at the target location rather than the true location.

Abstract: Improved methods for retrieval of content from CDNs is provided that includes a rendezvous controller that receives information of an identification of content being requested and an estimated location of a content requesting device. Based on this information, the rendezvous system identifies a server within a CDN from which the requested content may be retrieved. The selected server may be based on a repeatable hash function such that the likelihood that the content being requested is cached at the selected server. Steering requests to a server of the CDN which may have the content cached may reduce the number of servers within the CDN with the same cached content, particularly for the highest requested content. The rendezvous system may then return a corresponding domain name associated with the selected server and that can be subsequently submitted to a DNS for resolution to the IP address of the identified server.
