  • Publication number: 20220068254
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for introducing loudspeaker harmonic nonlinearities to a signal without outputting the signal as audio or sound through a loudspeaker and recording the output audio or sound. The device includes a resistive element and an inductive element. The resistive element includes a hollow core and a first wire wound around the hollow core in a first direction. The inductive element is inserted within the hollow core of the resistive element, and includes a metal-based core and a second wire wound around the metal-based core in an opposite second direction. A signal or current is first passed through the inductive element, creating electromagnetic distortion between the resistive element and the inductive element that simulates inductance of the loudspeaker voice-coil. The electromagnetic distortion alters the signal by introducing harmonic nonlinearities into the signal.

  • Publication number: 20220069219
Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and systems are disclosed for robust scalable topological quantum computing. Quantum dots are fabricated as van der Waals heterostructures, supporting localized topological phases and non-Abelian anyons (quasiparticles). Large bandgaps provide noise immunity. Three-dot structures include an intermediate quantum dot between two computational quantum dots. With the intermediate quantum dot in an OFF state, quasiparticles at the computational quantum dots can be isolated, with long lifetimes. Alternatively, the intermediate quantum dot can be controlled to decrease the quasiparticle tunneling barrier, enabling fast computing operations. A computationally universal suite of operations includes quasiparticle initialization, braiding, fusion, and readout of fused quasiparticle states, with, optionally, transport or tunable interactions—all topologically protected. Robust qubits can be operated without error correction.

  • Publication number: 20220070484
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video encoding/decoding. In some examples, an apparatus for video decoding includes processing circuitry that determines, from a coded video bitstream, a portion of a block is subject to a zero-out operation based on a threshold number of samples being less than a number of samples in one of a height dimension or a width dimension of the block. The processing circuitry determines whether a mixture of a lossless coding mode and one or more lossy coding modes is allowed in the coded video bitstream. The processing circuitry reconstructs the block based on the one or more lossy coding modes in response to (i) the mixture of the lossless coding mode and the one or more lossy coding modes being allowed in the coded video bitstream and (ii) the portion of the block being subject to the zero-out operation.

Abstract: A camera mount is provided for photographing vehicles in photo booths or circular domed structures where an automated process captures a series of vehicle images, and uploads the captured images to a web template for display and recordation. The mount has an adjustable base that supports a camera and provides a range of camera angles, positions, and tilts as needed. The base is attached to an enclosure box of the mount, and the enclosure box attaches to a frame that affixes to an exterior portion of a wall of the photo booth and keeps the camera plumb and square. The mount allows for quick camera replacement without having to aim the camera. A single backup unit may be installed into any camera position no matter what tilt or angle the camera is set at. • Publication number: 20220066658
Abstract: A subset of drives with protection groups that have D data members and P parity members is scaled in single drive increments. A plurality of indexed partitions equal in size and number are created on (D+P) indexed drives. Protection groups that have D data members and P parity members are created on individual partition indexes of the (D+P) drives. When a new drive is added some of the protection group members located on the (D+P) drives are selected using modulo arithmetic. The selected protection group members are relocated to the new drive and new protection groups are created using the partitions made available due to the relocations. When (D+P) new drives have been added the drive subset may be split into two drive subsets. The modulo arithmetic may include selecting the members of protection group X that are on partition X of drive Y that satisfy the condition (X?Y+N?1) modulo W=0, where N is a count of new drives added to the (D+P) drives and W=(D+P).
