  • Patent number: 11243273
Abstract: Magnetic field components are measured at multiple longitudinal positions and used to calculate estimated longitudinal position and length of a transversely localized electric current segment flowing across a gap between conductive bodies. The apparatus can be used with a remelting furnace. The electrode and ingot act as the conductive bodies, and arcs, discharges, or slag currents are the current segments spanning the gap. Actuators for movable sensors can be coupled to the sensors in a servomechanism arrangement to move the sensors along with the moving gap. An actuator for moving one of the conductive bodies can be coupled to sensors in a servomechanism arrangement to maintain the gap distance within a selected range as the gap moves.

  • Patent number: 11244205
Abstract: Technologies for generating a multi-modal representation of an image based on the image content are provided. The disclosed techniques include receiving an image, to be classified, that comprises one or more embedded text characters. The one or more embedded text characters are identified from the image and a first machine learning model is used to generate a text vector that represents a numerical representation of the one or more embedded text characters. A second machine learning model is used to generate an image vector that represents a numerical representation of the graphical portion of the image. The text vector and the image vector are used as input to generate a multi-modal vector that contains information from both the text vector and the image vector. The image may be classified into one of a plurality of image classifications based upon the information in the multi-modal vector.

  • Patent number: 11244958
Abstract: An alternating stack of insulating layers and sacrificial material layers is formed over a substrate. Memory stack structures are formed through the alternating stack. Drain-select-level trenches through an upper subset of the sacrificial material layers, and backside trenches are formed through each layer of the alternating stack. Backside recesses are formed by removing the sacrificial material layers. A first electrically conductive material and a second electrically conductive material are sequentially deposited in the backside recesses and the drain-select-level trenches. Portions of the second electrically conductive material and the first electrically conductive material may be removed by at least one anisotropic etch process from the drain-select-level trenches to provide drain-select-level electrically conductive layers as multiple groups that are laterally spaced apart and electrically isolated from one another by cavities within the drain-select-level trenches.

  • Patent number: 11246207
Abstract: Smart switch devices, systems, and methods for modifying an existing electrical system to utilize the power state output of a physical switch as an indicator or signal for the operation of a smart home device or system or network of such devices to facilitate interoperability of physical switches with smart devices. The smart switch detects or determines the power state of a circuit and infers the corresponding state of a mechanical switch that operates the circuit. This information is then transmitted to associated smart devices, which may not be physically connected to the circuit controlled by the switch. When the mechanical switch is operated, it can control both electrically attached loads, such as a conventional light appliance, and wirelessly control unconnected smart devices.
