Abstract: A carbonized PVDC copolymer useful for the separation of an olefin from its corresponding paraffin may be made by heating a polyvinylidene chloride copolymer film or hollow fiber having a thickness of 1 micrometer to 20 micrometers to a pretreatment temperature of 100° C. to 180° C. to form a pretreated polyvinylidene chloride copolymer film and then heating the pretreated polyvinylidene chloride copolymer film to a maximum pyrolysis temperature from 350° C. to 750° C. A process for separating an olefin from its corresponding paraffin in a gas mixture is comprised of flowing the gas mixture through the aforementioned carbonized polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) copolymer to produce a permeate first stream having an increased concentration of the olefin and a second retentate stream having an increased concentration of its corresponding paraffin.

  • Publication number: 20210229655
Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for executing an automated vehicle maneuvering operation. In one exemplary scenario, a driver stands on a curb and uses an application in a handheld device to execute a remote parking assist operation of his/her vehicle. The application may use a camera of the handheld device to provide to the driver, an image of a group of vehicles that includes his/her vehicle. The driver identifies his/her vehicle by dragging and dropping an icon upon the vehicle. The application then pairs the handheld device to the vehicle by instructing the vehicle to provide an audible and/or visual signal (beeps, flashing lights, etc.) to confirm the pairing. Upon pairing, a visual lock that is established by the application between the handheld device and the vehicle is used by the driver to automatically track and monitor the automated parking operation carried out by the vehicle.

Abstract: An apparatus, system and technique selectively eliminates the noxious signal components in a neuronal signal by creating an interfering electrical signal that is tuned to a given frequency corresponding to the oscillatory pattern of the noxious signal, resulting in a modified neuronal signal that substantially reproduces a normal, no-pain neuronal signal. The disclosed system and technique of pain relief is based on the hypothesis that the temporal profile of pain signals encodes particular components that oscillate at unique and quantifiable frequencies, which are responsible for pain processing in the brain.

Abstract: A training apparatus for baseball training includes a base and training attachments that may be attached to the base to allow a user to practice a variety of training techniques. The base may be modular so that it has an adjustable width and disassembles into separate components. At least one training attachment is designed to train a batter to properly incorporate thrust into a swinging motion when swinging a baseball bat. The attachment has a pivotally mounted member with a contact element attached to the top end of the member. The member pivots forward and downward when the user's knee contacts the contact element when properly executing a swinging motion. Thus, the training attachment provides direct and immediate feedback to the user regarding the user's batting form. Other training attachments may be used for hitting balls and for pitching to targets strategically placed around a strike zone.

Abstract: Electrical connectors for very high speed signals, including signals at or above 112 Gbps. Effectiveness of shielding along the signal paths through the mating electrical connectors may be enhanced through the use of one or more techniques, including enabling two-sided shielding, connections between shield members and between shield members and grounded structures of printed circuit boards to which the connectors are mounted, and selective positioning of lossy material. Such techniques may be simply and reliably implemented in high density connector using one or more techniques. An electrical connector may include core members held by a housing together with leadframe assemblies attached to the core members. The core members may include features that would be difficult to mold in a housing and may include both shields and lossy materials in locations that would be difficult to incorporate in a leadframe assembly.

  • Publication number: 20210235076
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video encoding/decoding. An apparatus for video decoding includes processing circuitry that decodes prediction information for a current block in a current coded picture. The prediction information indicates an intra block copy (IBC) prediction mode used for the current block, an index to select a block vector predictor candidate from a block vector predictor candidate list for the current block, and whether a non-zero residue exists for the current block. The processing circuitry constructs the block vector predictor candidate list for the current block in a same sequence of candidates, no matter whether the no-zero residue exists for the current block. The processing circuitry selects a block vector predictor candidate from the constructed block vector predictor candidate list based on the index indicated in the prediction information and reconstructs the current block according to the selected block vector predictor candidate.
