Abstract: A fiber optic node includes an electronics equipment enclosure. The electronics equipment enclosure includes a lid and a base defining an overall interior space of the electronics equipment enclosure. The lid includes a lid top and a lid mating surface to contact and overlap a base mating surface of the base to close the electronics equipment enclosure. The lid further includes at least one lid side wall extending away from the lid top. The at least one lid side wall includes at least one protruding lid side wall extending outwards to project beyond the lid mating surface. The base includes a base bottom and at least one base side wall extending away from the base bottom. The base further includes a base mating surface to contact and overlap the lid mating surface of the lid to close the electronics equipment enclosure.

Abstract: A method for assembling an axle assembly for a vehicle including that a pinion gear is inserted into a differential housing. The pinion gear having a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The pinion gear further includes a gear head at the first end, external threads proximate the second end, and external splines located a first distance away from the second end. The method further includes that a flange is slid over the second end of the pinion gear. The flange including internal splines. The method also includes that the internal splines of the flange are engaged with the external splines of the pinion gear and the flange is anchored to prevent the flange and the pinion gear from rotating. The method may further include that ultrasonic sound waves are transmitted through the pinion gear and reflections of the ultrasonic sound waves are detected.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for parallel optimization of continuously running quantum error correction by closed-loop feedback. In one aspect, a method includes continuously and effectively optimizing qubit performance in-situ whilst an error correction operation on the quantum system is running. The method directly monitors the output from error detection and provides this information as feedback to calibrate the quantum gates associated with the quantum system. In some implementations, the physical qubits are spatially partitioned into one or more independent hardware patterns, where the errors attributable to each hardware pattern are non-overlapping. The one or more different sets of hardware patterns are then temporarily interleaved such that all physical qubits and operations are optimized. The method allows for the optimization of each section of a hardware pattern to be performed individually and in parallel, and can result is O(1) scaling.

Abstract: Software specification translation includes: receiving a first software specification specified in a first programming language, a second software specification specified in a second programming language, a third software specification specified in a third programming language different from the first and second programming languages, the third software specification defining one or more data relationships between the first software specification and the second software specification. A combined representation of the first software specification and the second software specification is formed in a fourth programming language different from the first, second, and third programming languages. Connections are formed in the fourth programming language between a representation of the first software specification and the representation of the second software specification according to identified data relationships.

Abstract: A routing assembly for an electronic device has a front face with an array of connectors ports and each of the connector ports contain a first connector mounted therein. A first end of a cable can be directly terminated to the first connectors and the cables can be embedded in a tray that is configured to extend toward a chip package. The cables extend from the tray and terminates to a second connector that can be electrically connected to the chip package so as to provide a communication path between the first connector and the second connector that substantially bypasses a supporting circuit board.

Abstract: A robotic pool cleaner can operate while submerged to clean floor and side wall surface areas of the pool. A second embodiment of the pool cleaner can clean debris while skimming water along the top surface of the pool water. A third embodiment of the pool cleaner when inverted from submerged cleaning mode into skimmer mode, exposes on its bottom surface solar panels by which the pool cleaner's internal batteries can be recharged. A fourth embodiment of the pool cleaner includes different combinations of the submerged cleaning mode, the skimming mode and the battery charging mode.

Abstract: A method of producing a workpiece by using additive manufacturing techniques includes obtaining CAD data representing the workpiece with workpiece layer definitions defining workpiece layers. The method includes selecting a first workpiece layer definition. The method includes preparing a powder bed of powder material on a build platform. The method includes measuring individual characteristics of the powder material on the build platform using a measuring head. The method includes producing, based on the selected workpiece layer definition, a workpiece layer on the build platform. The producing includes controlling a layer tool to selectively melt or sinter the powder material on the build platform. The producing is further based on the measured individual characteristics of the powder material to correct for detected flaws in the powder bed. The method includes selecting each one of the workpiece layer definitions and repeating the preparing, the measuring, and the producing for the selected definition.

Abstract: A self-contained satellite-navigation-based (SatNav-based) method and micro system is disclosed, wherein SatNav-derived (e.g., GPS-derived) position and velocity measurements are obtained and processed to achieve a low cost, micro size, real-time solution for the position and velocity of the carrier relative to a vertical and/or horizontal plane of previously measured location and heading, and for the slant range from a fixed position located on said vertical or horizontal plane. The method includes two parts: 1) a method for defining both the spatial orientation of the vertical and/or horizontal plane of interest, along with a selected fixed position of interest on one of those planes, and 2) a method for obtaining the real-time relative position and velocity of the carrier relative to the plane(s) of interest, and its position relative to the fixed position of interest.

Abstract: A cloud-based fleet of sandboxes is scalable along two tiers. Additional sandboxes may be added to a particular sandbox network in a particular sandbox stack, or additional sandbox stacks may be added. Isolation of individual sandboxes within a sandbox network is provided by virtual switches or routers, and subnetting. Isolation of sandbox networks is provided by network or port address translation, and by running hypervisors in respective infrastructure-as-a-service virtual machines. Provisioning efficiency can be provided by the two-tiered architecture, by use of differencing disks, by use of virtual machine scale sets, and by hybrid core-count sandboxes. Sandboxes may be secured but still have outgoing internet connectivity. Workloads run in the sandbox may include builds, tests of development code, investigations of possible malware, and other tasks.

Abstract: A privacy display comprises a liquid crystal spatial light modulator, a switchable retarder and a passive compensation retarder arranged between a pair of polarisers. In a privacy mode of operation, on-axis light from the spatial light modulator is directed without change of image contrast, whereas off-axis light has reduced contrast to reduce the visibility of the display to off-axis snoopers over a wide polar angular range. In a wide angle mode of operation, the retardance of the switchable retarder is adjusted so that off-axis contrast is substantially unmodified.

The pump is coupled to the support frame and includes a pump inlet configured to be fluidly coupled to a water source and a pump outlet providing water at an increased water pressure. The pressure regulator is configured to control the pressure of the water. The concentrate tank is supported by the support frame and configured to store a concentrate fluid. The injector is fluidly coupled to the concentrate tank and configured to inject the concentrate fluid into the water. The spray nozzle is fluidly coupled to the pump outlet and the injector. The controller is coupled to the injector and is configured to control operation of the injector.

An exemplary method comprises: providing a workflow service in a cloud-based platform, wherein the workflow service comprises a workflow executor service; obtaining, by the workflow service, a workflow configuration file specifying a sequence of tasks for execution by the workflow service; processing the workflow configuration file using the workflow executor service to create a workflow instance; initiating a given task from the workflow instance for execution by a task executor that publishes a status and/or any outputs of the given task as an event to an event source; monitoring the event source, using an event listener, to obtain the status and/or the outputs of the given task; and identifying a next task in the sequence based on the status of the given task.
