Abstract: Embodiments of golf clubs and golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf clubs and golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion includes an interior cavity and a front portion having a perimeter ledge portion and an undercut portion. The golf club head includes a face portion having a back surface with a perimeter portion attached to the perimeter ledge portion to close the interior cavity. The golf club head further includes a first mass portion, and a second mass portion. A port above the second mass portion is connected to the interior cavity and is configured to receive the first mass portion. The golf club head further includes a polymer material in the interior cavity interior cavity. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

Abstract: A communication technique for providing a mobile gateway in a radio node (such as an eNodeB) in a local wireless network that is associated with a venue is described. During the communication technique, the radio node may provide, via the mobile gateway, cellular-telephone-network services. In particular, the mobile gateway may implement functions including: providing, when an electronic device attaches to the local wireless network, an Internet Protocol (IP) address to the electronic device based on a media access control (MAC) address for the electronic device, which is, in part, provided by a mobile management entity (MME) in a cellular-telephone network; triggering, via a supported interface, paging to the electronic device when the electronic device is in idle in the local wireless network; transmitting uplink data and receiving downlink data via a cellular-telephone communication protocol (such as Long Term Evolution or LTE); and/or electronic-device mobility in the local wireless network.

Abstract: A portable data storage device includes at least one component that generates heat, an enclosure wall made of a first material and having a thermal conductivity and an exterior layer. The enclosure wall surrounds the at least one computer component and includes outer and inner boundaries. The exterior layer is made of a second material and has a thermal conductivity that is less than the thermal conductivity of the first material. The exterior layer is covers the outer boundary of the enclosure wall and includes an outer surface and an inner boundary. The outer boundary of the enclosure wall interfaces with the inner boundary of the exterior layer so that the outer surface of the exterior layer is in direct contact with the environment and the outer boundary of the enclosure wall is not. Heat is transferred to the environment at the outer surface of the exterior layer.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including an apparatus for transferring data using multiple buffers, including multiple memories and one or more processing units configured to determine buffer memory addresses for a sequence of data elements stored in a first data storage location that are being transferred to a second data storage location. For each group of one or more of the data elements in the sequence, a value of a buffer assignment element that can be switched between multiple values each corresponding to a different one of the memories is identified. A buffer memory address for the group of one or more data elements is determined based on the value of the buffer assignment element. The value of the buffer assignment element is switched prior to determining the buffer memory address for a subsequent group of one or more data elements of the sequence of data elements.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for pairing a speech-enabled device with a display device. A determination may be made to pair a speech-enabled device with a display device of a particular type. A set of display devices that are associated with the speech-enabled device may be identified in response to determining to pair the speech-enabled device with the display device of the particular type. An instruction may be provided to each of the display devices. The instruction may cause the display device to determine (i) whether the display device is of the particular type and (ii) whether the display device and the speech-enabled device both share a local area network and display on the display device an indication regarding pairing with the speech-enabled device.

Abstract: A method for generating a predicted segmentation map for potential objects in a future scene depicted in a future image is described. The method includes receiving input images that depict a same scene; processing a current input image to generate a segmentation map for potential objects in the current input image and a respective depth map; generating a point cloud for the current input image; processing the input images to generate, for each pair of two input images in the sequence, a respective ego-motion output that characterizes motion of the camera between the two input images; processing the ego-motion outputs to generate a future ego-motion output; processing the point cloud of the current input image and the future ego-motion output to generate a future point cloud; and processing the future point cloud to generate the predicted segmentation map for potential objects in the future scene depicted in the future image.

Abstract: Techniques provide for rebuilding data. Such techniques involve: obtaining health status information related to a first disk of a storage system, the first disk being divided into a plurality of disk units, and the health status information indicating a failure of a first disk unit of the plurality of disk units; determining a data block stored in the first disk unit based on a mapping between data blocks for the storage system and storage locations; and rebuilding the data block into a second disk of the storage system when maintaining accessibility of other data blocks in other disk units of the first disk than the first disk unit. Accordingly, it is possible to improve the data rebuilding efficiency when a disk fails partly and to continue utilizing the storage space portion in the disk that is not failed, without making the disk be offline temporarily.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a processing device configured to determine that a first data structure comprises an indication that a first logical page is an orphan and to obtain the first logical page based at least in part on the determination. The processing device is configured to identify a pointer to a second logical page from a second data structure of the first logical page and to determine a data offset that corresponds to the pointer. The processing device is configured to determine a snapshot group that corresponds to the first logical page and to identify a candidate logical page based at least in part on the data offset, the snapshot group and the pointer. The processing device is configured to determine that the candidate logical page is a match for the first logical page and to link the candidate logical page and the first logical page together.

Abstract: A method for capturing material extracted from biochar is provided comprising the steps of: (i) providing a biochar; (ii) contacting the biochar with an extraction media, where the extraction media causes the removal of residual compounds from the pores and surface of the biochar, creating a resulting extract comprised of the extraction media and removed compounds; and (iii) collecting the resulting extract. The method also can include other steps of extraction and purification. The method further comprises the step of applying the resulting extract to seeds, plants, soil, other agricultural products, or for use in other applications. A biochar having high levels of soluble signaling compounds is also provided, where the biochar is derived from a biomass source that together with predefined pyrolysis parameters produces resulting biochar having increased levels of soluble signaling compounds that are known to increase seed germination rates and early plant growth.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for interacting with a tag in a wireless communications area. A user interface is generated with a digital representation of energy levels received into an energy receiving sensor, such as a CCD. The user interface includes interactive portions based upon positions of tags in a wireless communication area. A controller may determine that a Smart Device is associated with access rights to digital content associated with the tag, and the digital content may be displayed in the user interface on the Smart device.

Abstract: The ball joint includes a housing that has an inner bore. A ball stud is partially received in the inner bore. The ball stud has a ball portion and a shank portion which are separate pieces from one another and which are in threaded engagement with one another. At least one bearing is disposed in the inner bore and slidably supports the ball portion of the ball stud for allowing the ball stud to rotate and articulate relative to the housing. The ball portion is shaped through a forging operation, and the shank portion is shaped through a process which includes machining and does not include forging.

Abstract: A method for providing an application service to clients includes identifying a failure of the application service that causes the application service to be suspended; in response to identifying the failure: instantiating an instance of an application for providing the application service in a production host; identifying at least one virtual disk level backup that is: associated with the application and is a portion of deduplicated backups; extracting the at least one virtual disk level backup from deduplicated backups to obtain a copy of the at least one virtual disk level backup; identifying application data associated with the application within the copy of the at least one virtual disk level backup; transitioning an application service session for a client of the clients to the instance of the application; and resuming the application service for the client using the instance of the application and the application data.

Abstract: Navigation applications may utilize various different data sources to provide route information. In one example, a method of operation may include receiving at least one destination and creating a navigation route from a current location to a final destination, retrieving a plurality of user characteristics and a plurality of user preferences from at least one of a local memory of a user device and a remote memory of a remote device, modifying the navigation route to include intermediate routes based on the plurality of user characteristics and the plurality of user preferences, and transmitting a notification to a user device comprising at least one suggestion for an intermediate route.

Abstract: A locking mechanism particularly adapted to lock a cover of an electrical connector which connects an electrical transmission conductor to a distribution conductor. The locking mechanism includes a tip portion, a spiral portion, a holding portion, and an engagement portion, where the tip portion has a smaller cross-sectional area than the spiral portion and where the engagement portion is a widest portion of the locking mechanism. The present invention is also directed to a method of using the locking mechanism to lock the cover, as well as to a cover system which includes the locking mechanism and the cover engaged such that the cover is locked.

Abstract: A method of stimulating a formation containing two or more wellbores includes simultaneously stimulating a first region of each wellbore using a stimulation fluid so as to create a primary fracture in the first region of each wellbore, wherein the first region comprises a first opening or openings allowing fluid communication between each wellbore and the formation, wherein the first region has a first stimulated lateral length and wherein the flow rate of the stimulation fluid through the first opening or openings is greater than 1 barrel per minute per foot of the first stimulated lateral length.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method comprises receiving a plurality of sampled data points, each data point including a y value and a t value; defining an array of bins, each bin identified by a unique number and including histogram data for a range of y values; for each consecutive pair of data points including a current data point and a next data point, determining a corresponding one of a plurality of linear equations, each linear equation defining a line between the current data point and the next data point; for each line, determining an amount of time that the y value of the line is within the range of values for each bin from the current data point to the next data point; and adding the time to the histogram data for each bin.
