Abstract: A device, system and method for confidentially communicating a security alert to a monitoring service or other entity are provided. A mobile device of the present disclosure, e.g., a cellular phone, GSM phone, media player, personal digital assistant (PDA), etc., will enable a user to send a security alert or emergency communication to another party, e.g., an alerting such a monitoring service, where the user can accomplish this alert without letting anyone know that they are sending the alert so that the user does not put themselves in further danger by alerting the perpetrator of the crime to the alert. Moreover, the user will be able to send the monitoring service information on the nature of the alert including a geographic location of the user.

Abstract: A method of delivering media to mobile communication devices and a media server that delivers media to mobile communication devices. Via the media server, selected media can be collected via a communication network and the selected media can be stored to a computer readable storage device. A presence of a mobile communication device can be detected on a private network serviced by the media server and information relating to the selected media can be sent to the mobile communication device. Responsive to receiving from the mobile communication device a selection of at least one media presentation from the selected media, the media presentation can be provided to the mobile communication device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for communicating a medical alert, such as in the event of a medical emergency. An embodiment of a method for communicating a medical alert is provided, wherein the method comprises the step of receiving a trigger signal in response to an action by a user of a mobile device. The method also includes retrieving medical information associated with the user from a storage module contained within the mobile device. The method further includes contacting a party listed in a medical contact list, wherein the medical contact list is also stored in the storage module. Finally, the method includes communicating the medical information, stored within the storage module, from the mobile device to the contacted party.

Abstract: A method, controller and system in accordance with various aspects of the present disclosure facilitate automatic acquisition of broadcast content for a user. Within the method, controller and system, a user device having a digital imaging device, a controller, and at least one network interface is configured to scan a visual code overlaid on visual broadcast content displayed on a display device. The user device interprets the scanned visual code to identify the visual broadcast content, and retrieves user preferences stored on the user device to facilitate acquisition of the stored content by the user. The user preferences identify a user-preferred site for acquiring the broadcast content, and may identify other parameters as well. The user device then establishes a transaction between the user device and the user-preferred site to acquire the broadcast content. In an embodiment, mere acceptance of the transaction by the user completes the transaction.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for image annotation for image auxiliary information storage and retrieval. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for image annotation for image auxiliary information storage and retrieval is provided. The method includes loading a digital image into memory of a computer and selecting separately stored auxiliary information for the digital image. A network location of the auxiliary information can be encoded. Finally, the encoding can be embedded into the digital image.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for enabling a customer to perform a self check-out procedure during a purchasing transaction. In one embodiment, among others, a software program is stored on a computer-readable medium and configured to be executed by a processing device. The software program includes logic adapted to enable a user of a portable customer device to utilize the portable customer device to scan a code associated with a product. The software program also includes logic adapted to enable the user to add the product to an electronic shopping cart and logic adapted to instruct the user to physically add the product to a physical cart.

In an embodiment of the invention, a method for centralized cookie management includes receiving a request in a content browser executing in memory by at least one processor of a computer to retrieve content on behalf of an end user from a content server. The method further includes diverting transmission of the request from the content server to a centralized cookie repository remote from the content browser and the content server. The method yet further includes retrieving profile data for the end user in the centralized cookie repository, formulating a cookie from the profile data and combining the formulated cookie with the request. Finally, the method includes routing the request with the formulated cookie to the content server.

The method also includes identifying advertising content corresponding to the retrieved profile, and transmitting the identified advertising content and the selection of content for alternating playback in the playback device disposed in the vehicle.

Abstract: A location based image acquisition data processing method includes determining a geographic location of a mobile device and mapping the location to a proximate imaging system with at least one camera. The method also includes identifying a Web site for the proximate imaging system, and directing a Web browser executing in memory by a processor of the mobile device to navigate to the identified Web site. Optionally, the method additionally includes detecting a change in position of the mobile device to a new location, mapping the new location to a different imaging system, identifying a different Web site for the different imaging system, and directing the Web browser to navigate to the identified different Web site.
