Abstract: An apparatus and methods are provided for a trephine bone graft harvester for extracting morselized bone from patients. The trephine bone graft harvester includes a bone cutter affixed to an outer hub. The bone cutter comprises a hollow tube having cylindrical wall and a distal cutting edge. A bone graft collector is sheathed within the bone cutter. The bone graft collector includes a distal scoop adjacent to the distal cutting edge of the bone cutter. The distal scoop is configured to move morselized bone away from the distal cutting edge. An inner hub is affixed to the bone graft collector and coupled with the outer hub. The inner hub includes a proximal shank configured to be engaged with a rotary tool suitable for applying torque to the inner hub.

Abstract: A bone fixation screw is provided for coupling with a bone fusion plate to join bone fusions. The bone fixation screw comprises a head portion and a shank that is comprised of distal threads and extends to a tapered portion and a rounded distal end. The head portion includes proximal threads extending circumferentially around an inferior end of the head portion. The proximal threads are configured to advantageously cross-thread with aperture threads of the bone fusion plate when the bone fixation screw is obliquely angled relative to the bone fusion plate. Slots disposed around the head portion allow the proximal threads to disengage and reengage with the aperture threads as the bone fixation screw turns. A shaped opening in a superior end of the head portion engagedly receives a tool for driving the bone fixation screw into a bone hole.

Abstract: A bone fusion implant is provided for treating conditions of Proximal Interphalangeal (PIP), Distal interphalangeal (DIP), and metatarsophalangeal (MTP) foot joints. The bone fusion implant may be a cortical bone allograft sized to fuse the foot joint to be treated. A proximal portion of the implant may be pressed into a hole drilled in a proximal bone portion of the foot joint, and a distal portion of the implant may be pressed into a hole drilled in a distal bone portion of the foot joint. Ramps on the proximal and distal portions facilitate press-fitting the implant into the holes in the bone portions. Side ramps ensure that the bone fusion implant remains substantially aligned with the foot joint while the distal portion is pressed into the hole into the distal bone portion. Grooves on the ramps alleviate pressure and ease inserting the implant into the holes in the bone portions.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for a surgical bending instrument for bending surgical implants. The surgical bending instrument comprises a body including a longitudinally extending threaded hole. A shaft comprising a threaded portion is rotatably engaged within the threaded hole. A handle is coupled to a proximal end of the shaft, and a distal extension of the shaft comprises a driver. A distal force applicator comprises the driver centered between a first grip and a second grip. In some embodiments, the distal force applicator is configured to retain a surgical staple, such that the surgical staple may be changed to a distracted configuration suitable for implantation at a bone fixation or fusion site of a patient. In some embodiments, the distal force applicator is configured to bend a bone fusion plate so as to tailor the plate to specific anatomy of the patient's bone.
