Patents Assigned to Load Rite Trailers, Inc.
  • Patent number: 7819412
Abstract: A universal fender step for a boat trailer and the like includes a channel of trapezoidal-shaped cross-section. Longitudinally extending gutters at each of the four corners of the trapezoid shape extend the length of the channel. A slip resistant surface is provided on the top face. The channel is formed as a long beam and then cut to a length needed for a particular step. An end plate is attached to an open end of the channel with four push-pins, screws or other type fasteners which each engage a respective end of one of the gutters. A pair of mounting holes is each positioned in each side wall juxtaposed from each other. These mounting holes accommodate bolts for attaching a side wall to a trailer fender. An elongate hole in the channel's top face permits the positioning of a further mounting bolt with a trailer side rail. A lamp may be mounted to one side wall with the wiring harness extending in a longitudinal gutter and held therein by clips.

  • Patent number: 7690161
Abstract: A structural member for a vehicle has a slot extending into one structural wall thereof, for receiving and holding a bolt, wherein said structural member including said slot has been formed by extrusion. The slot extends the length of the structural member for slidably receiving the head of one or more bolts wherein the land area of each bolt head extends beyond the slot opening to overlay the wall area carrying the slot. Each bolt carries at least two flat faces below its head wherein the juxtaposed edges of the slot carrying wall retains, i.e., refrains, the bolt from rotating. The slot includes an interior wall or sidewalls continuous with the slotted structural wall. The structural member may include an I-beam, a rectangular tube, a C-channel and the like. Corners are radiuses and right angles are avoided to reduce or remove stress risers.

  • Patent number: 6802570
Abstract: A boat trailer roller wheel mounting system for carrying an insignia in a predetermined orientation is provided. Included is a closed-ended wheel bushing which carries indexing for mating with an indexed wheel support arm in a predetermined, rotational orientation. The roller wheel turns on and is held by the indexed bushing. A quick release retainer ring fixes the bushing to the support arm and acts as an inboard longitudinal movement stop for the wheel. The bushing indexing on the support arm transfers the rotational thrust created on bushing, due to the rotation of the wheel under a load, directly to the support arm and therefore eliminates this rotational thrust from acting upon the retainer ring. An end cap is formed at the closed outer end of the bushing and has an annular projection surface extending beyond the bushing surface to provide a longitudinal thrust surface against which the wheel hub can operate.

  • Patent number: 6113124
Abstract: A bunk-style boat tailer is made with aluminum side rails and aluminum cross beams. A wheel and axle assembly is attached to the side rails near the rear of the trailer. The bunk beams are positioned so that approximately 3/4 of the length of the bunks is rearward of the axle mounting position. A front support of the bunk beams is attached to the side rails just forward of the axle mounting position. A rear support of the bunk beams is attached to the side rails at their rearward end. This cantilevers approximately 1/3 of the length of the bunks beyond the rear of the end of the side rails. A truss assembly structure transfers the load from the bunk supports to the wheel and axle assembly thereby reducing further the bending forces on the trailer side rails. This truss assembly also boxes the bunk support region of the trailer frame to reduce torsion forces. A wiring harness channel extends the length of at least one side rail.
