Patent number: 11204052Abstract: A friction fit clip fastening system that creates a firm and invisible connection between panels or substrates without the use of tools or glue, comprising a fastener and mating rout. The fastener has a clip element that allows it to clip and connect to a mating rout. Different routs are used for different embodiments of the fasteners. The rout is formed directly in the panel face or edge or formed on a substrate by a router bit that has three cutting edges. The connections made by the friction fit clip fastening system are invisible. The fasteners can be installed at the manufacturing site so the user simply clips or slides the fasteners into the appropriate slot or rout when assembling. The friction fit fastening system is easily removable from the panels making assembling and disassembling quick and easy because the fastener is made of one piece. The friction fit clip fastening system can also be permanent if the permanent rout is used.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2017Date of Patent: December 21, 2021Assignee: LOCKDOWEL, INC.Inventors: Fred Koelling, Bryan Koelling, Daniel Savage

Patent number: 10711942Abstract: A fastening device, a fastening system comprising a fastening device and corresponding slots/routs are described. There is a fastening device having at least two sides. In another embodiment the fastening device has three sides. Two of the three sides are about ninety degrees to each other and each of the two sides have a fastener located on its outer surface. There is one corresponding slot for each fastener. Each corresponding slot is on the surface of two separate substrates and located approximately ten millimeters away from an outermost edge of the substrate. The fastener secures with the corresponding slot, consequently joining the two substrates at approximately ninety degrees.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2017Date of Patent: July 14, 2020Assignee: Lockdowel, Inc.Inventor: Hoang Dang

Patent number: 10202993Abstract: Devices and methods based upon the concept of a split ring (604) having certain multiple interior angles (604a, 604b) to engage a stem or post (608) having annular ring(s) with angular geometries that are complimentary to those of the split ring. The disclosure provides designs for a wide range of insertion and desertion forces between latch engagement stems and latch engagement bodies. Changes to insertion contact angles and contact area on engagement stems and corresponding changes to insertion contact angles and engagement areas on engagement bodies can significantly modify insertion forces required to engage various devices. Similarly, changes in degrees of angle between desertion angles and contact areas on engagement stems with corresponding changes in desertion angles and contact areas on engagement bodies will significantly modify the total desertion forces required to disengage various devices.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2015Date of Patent: February 12, 2019Assignee: Lockdowel, Inc.Inventors: Fred Koelling, Venugopal Subramanyam

Patent number: 10197081Abstract: A friction fit fastening system, that creates a firm and invisible connection between panels or substrates without the use of tools or glue, comprising a fastener and mating rout. The fastener has a ramp element that allows it to slide and connect to a mating rout. Different routs are used for different embodiments of the fasteners. The rout is formed directly in the panel face or edge or formed on a substrate by a router bit that has three cutting edges. The connections made by the friction fit fastening system are invisible. The fasteners can be installed at the manufacturing site so the user simply slides or inserts the fasteners into the appropriate slot or hole when assembling. The friction fit fastening system is easily removable from the panels making assembling and disassembling quick and easy because the fastener is made of one piece.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2016Date of Patent: February 5, 2019Assignee: Lockdowel, Inc.Inventors: Fred Koelling, Bryan Koelling, Daniel Savage, Hoang Dang
