  • Patent number: 8282040
Abstract: A composite aircraft wing that includes a core, a first composite material disposed over the upper surface of the core, and a second composite material over the lower surface of the core. The second composite material is a different composite material than the first composite material. In addition, a first wood veneer layer is disposed over the first composite material and a second wood veneer layer disposed over the second composite material. The wing is lightweight, has an airfoil shape, and is easy to construct without using molds, while also being strong enough to support the weight of the aircraft. When used on a UAV-type aircraft having a wing-mounted antenna, the wing construction has little or no RF impact on the antenna.

  • Publication number: 20120249784
Abstract: In one aspect, video latency reduction by real-time warping is described. In one aspect, an original geometric image model of a digital video frame is adjusted according to a video frame latency, to form an adjusted geometric image model. A geometric image model may represent a field of view from a remote camera used to capture the digital video frame. The adjusted geometric image model may be overlaid onto the original geometric image model to capture a warped image. In one aspect the warped image is re-projected according to the adjusted geometric image model to form a re-projected image. The re-projected image may then be displayed to approximate a real-time field of view from a camera used to capture the digital video frame. In one aspect, an attitude and runway alignment of an unmanned aerial vehicle may be controlled using a displayed, re-projected image. Other aspects are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20120251381
Abstract: Articles containing a matrix material and plurality of copper nanoparticles in the matrix material that have been at least partially fused together are described. The copper nanoparticles are less than about 20 nm in size. Copper nanoparticles of this size become fused together at temperatures and pressures that are much lower than that of bulk copper. In general, the fusion temperatures decrease with increasing applied pressure and lowering of the size of the copper nanoparticles. The size of the copper nanoparticles can be varied by adjusting reaction conditions including, for example, surfactant systems, addition rates, and temperatures. Copper nanoparticles that have been at least partially fused together can form a thermally conductive percolation pathway in the matrix material.

  • Patent number: 8279105
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to configuring a receiver. In some embodiments, when a receiver is executing a dwell, configuration settings for one or more next possible dwells to be executed by the receiver may be sent to the receiver. In this way, when the receiver completes execution of the current dwell, the receiver need not wait to receive configuration settings for the next dwell to be executed as they may be already loaded into the receiver.

Abstract: A method and system for estimating the inception of gimbal motion of an inertial measurement unit (IMU), includes independently filtering, in a computer process, three-axis angular orientation rate information or data from component gyroscopes in the IMU, to provide a first output; adaptively detecting, in another computer process, discontinuities in the first output; estimating a regularity of gimbal motion to provide a second output; and comparing the discontinuities detected in the first output to the estimated regularity of gimbal motion provided in the second output, in another computer process, to determine which of the discontinuities detected in the first output are true discontinuities and which of the discontinuities in the first output that are false discontinuities, and to identify other discontinuities which have been missed in the first output. The true and missed discontinuities are estimates of the inception of gimbal motion of the IMU.
