  • Patent number: 6817637
Abstract: By providing a lock assembly wherein both components forming the lock assembly are independently adjustable and self-centering, a self-adjusting lock assembly is achieved which assures component engagement and automatic adjustability in all operational directions for all storage boxes, toolboxes, and/or lockboxes. In addition, the present invention also provides a construction which is quickly and easily installed in any desired storage box, toolbar, and/or lockbox while also achieving a cost-effective lock assembly. Furthermore, the present invention employs a lock assembly which enables two or more separate and independent lock assemblies to be interconnected for simultaneous operation, with the opening of one lock assembly controlling the simultaneous opening of the second lock assembly. As a result, large, elongated toolboxes requiring two or more separate and independent lock assemblies can be used with complete operationally control being provided at a single location.

  • Patent number: 6295850
Abstract: By operationally mounting a plurality of wafers or plates forming tumblers in an independent, separate, substantially closed container, and cooperatively mounting the plate tumbler container with a cylinder forming member, a unique cylinder lock system is attained which is easily and inexpensively manufactured, as well as quickly and easily re-keyed whenever desired. In the preferred embodiment, all of the plate tumblers which are desired for the particular lock construction are mounted in the substantially closed container, with each plate tumbler having the requisite spring means associated therewith. In addition, the plate tumbler holding container incorporates one aperture for each plate tumbler which allows the slot engaging fin of each tumbler to extend outwardly from the container for locking and unlocking association with the housing.

  • Patent number: 5938368
Abstract: By providing a locking member having collapsible and bendable arm members which cooperate with a head-bearing fastening member, a unique fastening system is achieved which enables hardware products, such as handles, knobs, locks, brackets, and the like to be easily and quickly mounted to any desired furniture product. In the preferred embodiment, the head-bearing fastener and the locking member are constructed to be axially inserted through the mounting holes formed in the furniture product. Then, by mounting the fastening system to the hardware product and inserting the mounted fastening system through the mounting holes, the hardware product is quickly and easily securely affixed in position as the collapsible and foldable arm members of the locking member are forced outwardly into an overall width greater than the mounting holes during the threaded advance of the fastener with the hardware product.

  • Patent number: 5491993
Abstract: A lock having a housing and flange, a lock cylinder, a cam lever, and a lock nut. The housing has a length which is slightly less than the thickness of the panel into which it is to be inserted. Its exterior surface has axial ridges which engage with the inner surface of the panel hole in which the housing is inserted. The ridges preferably extend only a short distance from the flange. These ridges hold the housing in place and prevent it from turning in the panel hole. The lock cylinder, which fits within the housing, has a threaded portion extending outwardly to receive the cam lever and the lock nut. Tightening up on the lock nut serves to draw the housing fully into the hole and to clamp the housing in place. The lock cylinder is keyed to the inner surface of the housing; and the cam lever is keyed to the threaded portion.

  • Patent number: 5251467
Abstract: A lock for front-mounting through a panel opening in a panel, the lock having a face plate, a barrel extending transversely from the face plate, and a shaft extending from the barrel to receive a cam. The lock has a retaining spring with a base and two legs, the base and legs being formed of spring steel and being integral with one another, the base having a central opening receiving the shaft and being so dimensioned as to be able to pass through the panel opening when the base is mounted on the shaft, each of the legs having two sides of different lengths so that the outer ends of the legs are angular. The legs extend generally transversely of the base with the outer ends being spaced apart a greater distance than the size of the panel opening, so that when the lock is pressed through the panel opening the face plate will engage with one side of the panel and the outer ends will engage with the other side of the panel, securing the lock in position.

  • Patent number: 5249443
Abstract: A pre-assembled front-loading lock having a first cam fixedly mounted on its shaft, a second cam parallel to the first cam and rotatably mounted on the shaft, and a locking member fixedly mounted on the shaft to secure the second cam against rotation with respect to the first cam when the second cam has been rotated about the shaft a predetermined amount. As a result, the lock with the cams can be pressed through a panel opening and the cams thereafter be readily moved into operating position. A stop is provided on the locking member to prevent the second cam from being rotated in the wrong direction.

  • Patent number: 5226302
Abstract: A self-adjusting lock has a keeper stud with a base that is mounted in a recess in a keeper assembly so that it can slide in four directions. As the bevelled keeper stud is pressed into an opening in a latch assembly, the stud self-adjusts in the necessary direction to achieve alignment. A spring pressing the base against a surface causes the base, and so the keeper stud, to be frictionally held in its new position. The keeper stud has a series of spaced ratchet teeth, axially separated from one another, any of which can interengage with the latch mechanism. Thus, the lock is adjusted in this direction each time the lock is closed, resulting in a lock self-adjustable in six directions.

  • Patent number: 5156366
Abstract: A golf bag stand having both an actuated state and a disabled state. The bag has two legs pivotally mounted side by side at the top of the bag. Each leg carries a sliding bracket which can be held in a disabled position and an actuating position. The two arms of a V-shaped spring push rod fit within the bracket, the arms being spring-pressed towards one another. The lower end of this rod forms a projector. When the stand is in its disabled state, the projector does not extend beyond the base of the bag; when in its actuated state, the projector extends two to three inches below the base of the bag. When the device is in its actuated state and the user puts the bag down on its base, the projector touches the ground and is forced upwardly relative to the bag. This forces the legs to swing outwardly, forming, with the bag itself, a tripod-like stand for the bag.
