Abstract: The invention relates to compensation films for liquid-crystal displays with additions of rod-shaped liquid crystals mentioned below, to polarizer plates which have at least one compensation film of this type, to liquid-crystal displays which have compensation films of the said type, and to processes for the production of the said compensation films, polarizer plates and liquid-crystal displays, to the use of the compounds described in greater detail below as additions to compensation films for liquid-crystal displays, and to further subject-matters of the invention which can be seen below.

Abstract: Protective films for plasma displays, spectacles or especially polarizers (for example based on cellulose triacetate) including particular plasticizers as a constituent of imaging devices of liquid-crystal type or of spectacles, their production and use, and liquid-crystal display devices and film polarizers producible with them, and also further subject matter of the invention specified in the description, are particularly suitable for thin films and have advantageous properties, for example low water vapor permeability. The plasticizers used are one or more of the formula (I) in which the radicals are each as defined in the rest of the disclosure and are branched-chain alkyl radicals having 9 or 10 carbon atoms, and advantageously one or more further plasticizers.

Abstract: Compensation films for liquid crystal displays, polarizer plates having at least one such compensation film, liquid crystal displays having compensation films, and a method for producing compensation films, polarizer plates, and liquid crystal displays, as well as the use of compounds of the formula (I) described below in more detail as additives to compensation films for liquid crystal displays is provided. The optical compensation films include one or more rod-shaped liquid crystals of the formula (I) as additives, wherein the radicals have the meanings provided in the description for adjusting suitable retardation values Re and Rth.

Abstract: Thermoformed diaphragms made of cast polyarylate films, at least comprising one polyarylate (PAR) having a structural unit of the formula (I): where each of R1, R2, R3, and R4, independently of the others, is hydrogen, C1-4-alkyl, C1-4-alkoxy, or halogen, and each of R5 and R6 independently of the other, is hydrogen, C1-4-alkyl, C1-4-alkoxy, phenyl, or halogen. The thermoformed diaphragms made of cast PAR films can be used as acoustic transducers, preferably as microphone diaphragms or loudspeaker diaphragms. The cast PAR films can be used for producing these diaphragms, and the PAR casting solutions can be used for producing the cast PAR films. There are processes for producing thermoformed diaphragms made of cast PAR films.
Abstract: A method for producing transparent cast polyamide films from amorphous polyamides. The films are suitable for use as polarization protection films and as retardation and compensation films.
