Abstract: Method and apparatus for generating photographic copies from a CRT display of digital pixel data. The digital pixel data is received from a host digitizing device as a series of lines to be displayed. The series of lines comprises a complete frame of image data. The digital data is used to time modulate a constant intensity CRT beam to accurately control the exposure of a photographic film. Control over the exposure is effected by scanning each line of the image frame a plurality of times. The number of times each pixel data is displayed with a constant intensity determines the total exposure produced by each pixel on the photographic film. By scanning individual lines of a rasterized picture a plurality of times, accurate control over the exposure of the photographic film may be controlled using the constant beam intensity.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for controlling a video signal amplitude excursion to provide a display image within a photographic acceptance range of a film. A clamping level is established for said video signal which maintains the brightness of the display monitor fixed. A gain controlled amplifier is serially connected to receive said video signal. The gain of the amplifier is set to control the contrast level for the monitor. Calibration means are provided to establish a light output from the display monitor within the optimum photographic acceptance range.

Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided for controlling the brightness and brightness range of a CRT produced image. The resolution of photographs of the CRT-formed images is improved by establishing the absolute brightness and brightness range of the image to be reproduced within the brightness acceptance range of the photographic material used to record the images. Light sensing and measurement of the CRT image permits the establishment of a suitable image brightness and brightness range when representative samples of the video signal are supplied to the monitor CRT of the camera.
Abstract: Video image recording device for photographically recording video images selected from video input signals on sheets of film, provided with means for reducing or completely eliminating recorded image drift. Recorded image parameter controls are provided which are calibrated in terms of Dunn Density Index numbers, which are related to the densities of the recorded video images. Image polarity inversion control means are provided for the recorded image and for each individual video input signal channel.
