Patent number: 5742700Abstract: A caries detection system and method for quantifying a probability of lesions existing in tissues are presented. Digital X-ray images are segmented and further processed to generate feature statistics inputs for a neural network. The feature statistics include colinearity measurements of candidate lesions in different tissue segments. The neural network is trained by back propagation with an extensive data set of radiographs and histologic examinations and processes the statistics to determine the probability of lesions existing in the tissues.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1995Date of Patent: April 21, 1998Assignee: Logicon, Inc.Inventors: Douglas C. Patent number: 5619192Abstract: An electronic meter reader having a transmitter and antenna for inductively transmitting alternating current power in any selected one of a plurality of frequencies. The reader further includes a receiver for inductively receiving meter reading data from the meter being read represented by a load modulation of the transmitted frequency. A bandpass filter limits the bandwidth of the modulation frequency. The power transmitted by the transmitter may also be used by the meter to generate and transmit data representative of the meter reading back to the reader. A second receiver is also provided for inductively receiving reading data from the meter in the form of a modulated frequency generated by the meter. The reader includes a microprocessor and program which control the generation of a plurality of interrogation signal formats, and which decode a plurality of received data formats.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1994Date of Patent: April 8, 1997Assignee: Logicon, Inc.Inventor: Raymond F. Patent number: 4455066Abstract: A display terminal is provided which holds a roll of film, and can project the image of any film frame onto a console screen. The need for a platen to precisely locate a frame on the optical imaging plane, is avoided by keeping the film in tension. The tension is maintained while the film is stationary, by utilizing a pair of reel-driving motors that each provide a torque that varies with the diameter of the film roll on the corresponding reel. The film region being projected, can be held in a slight curve to more reliably hold all areas of the projected film region near a predetermined film plane. A film identification track and clock track can extend along one edge of the film to identify every frame and accurately center the frame at the imaging, or projection, station. The film can be rapidly moved to bring a desired frame to approximately the imaging station, with slight overshoot, and the film then can be inched back to center the frame.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1979Date of Patent: June 19, 1984Assignee: Logicon, Inc.Inventors: Roy H. Patent number: 4351591Abstract: A merchandising terminal is provided for recommending a product, such as a lipstick of appropriate color, which matches the needs of a particular customer who is unskilled in the selection of the product. The terminal includes a projector that displays a succession of images on a console screen, such as groups of questions related to the facial and body characteristics of the customer. A switch apparatus is operable by a person viewing the screen, to select which of several conditions most closely corresponds to that person, such as which of several skin colors most closely matches that of the viewer and which of several other conditions such as hair color most closely corresponds to that of the viewer. A logic circuit receives signals representing the various individual characteristics specified by a person, and generates an output indicating the particular products, such as a particular lipstick, facial cream, etc., which are most appropriate to the characteristics of that person.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1979Date of Patent: September 28, 1982Assignee: Logicon, Inc.Inventor: Larry A.
